While the RRP is laughable, this is a decent enough tyre at a knock down price. One review which rates them at 4/5 and he put them on Mavic rims, which suggests he is not just riding to the shops on these. Unlikely you will see a tyre this quality in Halfords at that price. Chain Reaction are very good at Customer service too.

In my experience some of the cheapest tyres are the strongest and most hard wearing but also the heaviest. I was disappointed with some Schwalbe tyres which may have had good grip and been light but were expensive and short life so avoid the brand now. Some of the cheaper tyres actually have the steel reinforcing of the walls which is really good. I'm a heavy rider so have a different outlook to riders who are more concerned with weight.

Grip and hardiness are usually opposites.

Why? even slick tyres aren't that bad in the rain, contact patch is so small that aquaplaning isn't going to happen until you can hit 100+

Yeah, ??? unless your nipping to the shops means riding through soft mud of course , large nobbles & small contact area in corners riding tarmac or concrete.= pain in the rain.

Lower the pressure then. If you're only popping to the shops etc its not going to be far no? or maybe having a MTB or off road tyres aren't the way to go.

Yes I realise that I understand the theory and its been my experience in practice too generally. However for me the denser, heavier tyres actually seem to hold their shape better so sometimes can seem safer compared to very light tyres. Also the low profile tyres with low rolling resistance have less surface in contact with the road so can offer less grip despite the more grippy rubber.
