Doh!
If you read all the posts about Chinese Phones, in these threads, that is the one golden rule. ALWAYS use the free slow post as with the likes of DHL and UPS, they demand the true value of the item is displayed for insurance purposes on the packaging, and they seem to get all their parcels screened by customs. Hence then the appropriate fees become payable.
If you select the free post option, they usually state the item being sent is a $5 MP3 player on the packaging, and customs don't usually check and let it through...
However there is still the risk if the parcel gets opened up and then Customs demand payment, but the general consensus is, the risk of it happening is a lot lower.

Forget about any meaningful warranty. But how many of the mobiles you have used have ever failed in the first 12 months? It's all about how much you think a warranty is worth but at 125 spondoolics this simply blows any UK-sourced mobile in its price category clean out of the water!

This is a snapdragon powered phone so satnav should be fine and dandy. It's the Mediatek phones that traditionally struggled with satnav (my old Elephone P6000 was embarrassingly bad).

I have the mediatek model of this phone. The build quality is surprisingly good, fingerprint works like anything else on the market and is accurate and snappy. Camera is really bad but I don't really care as I have a camera to take photos. The biggest problem with this model and for about 6 others I know, is that we all can't update our software.
They are confirmed ROMs from the Xiaomi website, the Mi PC app fails. We all get an error or it boot loops when trying.
This will be the only thing that puts me off a Xiaomi purchase in the future. Sat navigation also works perfect on the phone.

No problem with the international versions; both the children have international versions (Note 3 and 3S) which have regular updates.
If you really want to get updates, then you may want to go to the unoffical EU ROMs. A bit convoluted as you have to downgrade to a Chinese development ROM first. May have to get the bootloader unlocked beforehand as well......

the sd650 has a little bit higher performance on benchmarks and a more powerful gpu but the sd625 has higher efficiency on its side and more than adequate pergormance. these changes are due to different core configurations and a new manufacturing process for the 625. In real world use the only thing you'll notice is the longer battery life on the note 4. don't get me wrong, note 3 has great battery life, I know because I have one, note 4 should beat it though and still be slick under the finger. also note 4 has slightly nicer design, notably improved camera and a improved screen according to some reviews I've read.

Maybe some do but the phone i purchased was from China. The problem with AliExpress is that if you select the free delivery (which is the best option to avoid customs and taxes) AliExpress are in charge of it, so any failed delivery is AliExpress' responsibility which means there'll be toing and froing between AliExpress and the seller as in my case. I still don't know who will be issuing the refund(if any), the Xiaomi store from whom i purchased or AliExpress themselves.

Huh?? The Xiaomi Redmi Note Pro 3 miles better phone. The SD625 is a mid-range CPU. The SD650 in the Redmi Note Pro 3 is a completely different beast altogether. When the SD650 was released it was the second most powerful CPU in the Qualcomm family chipset (only behind the SD820 you see in all the 2016 flagship phones).

I just received a global redmi note 4 about a week ago and it's great. Really solid phone.
I also purchased an official xiaomi flip case, the one with the transparent window.
However I cannot get the smart cover to work at all, although I have enabled it in the settings (under lock screen, additional settings, smart cover).
Flipping the case does nothing. It should power the screen on etc
Now, the case is definitely magnetic, as you can stick a coin to it.
So for anyone with the same phone as the one on this deal, can you check yours?
You can test the hall sensor by tapping on kernel version a few times in 'about phone' under settings. Not sure if you need to be a developer first. This will bring up the test options, choose hall sensor test and then use a magnet or a magnetic flip case over the home button and see if it gets picked up by the sensor.
Please post back results and what phone you have e.g. snapdragon . I have the latest version of stable global Miui installed.
If you can't get it to work, please up vote this bug on the Miui forums:
I did the test with magnet & it passed. I ordered the flip case bundled with the phone but it didn't switch off/on the screen. Then I saw the option in settings menu to activate smart cover & after that it is working good.
What specifically do u want to test?

Thanks - I wonder is it the cover I have. It's for the redmi note 4, but I've read that the global version and the 4x have the hall sensor in a different place, and that's why it could not be working.
I've ordered a flip case for the 4x so when it arrives I'll check and see if that works...
Thanks for checking. I wasn't sure if my phone was faulty or it was the case or the ROM itself..

And the screen cover :

For those with nano Sims, you can't have a nano SIM as well as a micro SD card. You can however have a micro SIM and micro SD card.

What specifically do u want to test?
Quick, fast, good looking solid phone.
I've ordered a flip case for the 4x so when it arrives I'll check and see if that works...
Thanks for checking. I wasn't sure if my phone was faulty or it was the case or the ROM itself..
The first one I bought is already damaged and wasn't fitting correctly from day 1.
