This comes with the WD Red drives and is over £130 when new.
Free delivery and as I ordered two I got them for £65 each because you get £10 off a £100 spend with the code WDSTORECPN

Good deal. The 6TB one is only £125 so you should get this for only £115 with the code

I really hope that these recertified ones havent had the updated firmware installed - it removes the ability to actually safely shut down the device! It's been like that for about 12 months and hasnt been rectified. So the only relatively straight forward way to do it is using ssh.
Personally if I had the money I'd buy a dedicated NAS drive, ideally with 2 bays. The software on these isn't great but not being able to safely power them down is crazy! (I'm not talking about shutting them down every evening)

there is an app for that. the 2 key apps on their support website, one of them give you the ability to shut down.

Need a bit of advice on these.
Can you use these like a normal external HDD and plug in a device (such as a phone) and save the images ?
Also are you able to copy photo/videos back off the hard drive ? as I want to dump all our family photos and videos that are currants store on a PlayStation 3 onto some sort of HDD and edit them at a later date, but I don't have a PC or MAC

yes to all of that
i had one of these and they'll have various apps that you can install on mobile devices to access your content.
go to the app store relevant to your phone and search for western digital and check them out to see if they'll be suitable first though

One thing to note is that data must be transferred via Network/Ethernet. You can not transfer anything via USB like a normal hard drive.

Thanks
So I could plug in my phone to the HDD and copy stuff from the HDD to my phone ?

These definitely have WD Red drives? These are cheaper than buying the drives by themselves. Can you just on n the enclosure and use the drive in an existing computer/NAS?
How would find which NAS models come with which drives?

You can't literally plug your phone in, no. If you don't have a desktop, I'd say the most likely solution is that once you've set up the drive and you've registered the mobile app with the drive, you'd have to upload everything over wifi through the app.
As a comparison, i've got a synology nas drive and i've got the photo station app on my iphone. if i'm out and take any pictures, it'll automatically dump them to the nas when i get back home - no desktop needed as it'll be done over wifi.

That's a shame.
At the moment I'm using a WD my passport drive that has a female USB cable,I then use a micro USB to USB to connect my phone to it and then copy the photos/videos directly.
Ideally I want something with a large capacity that will allow me to transfer data back and forth how I mentioned above, but also has cloud capabilities for when the wifi in my house is faster,as at the moment it will take weeks to move all the data over wifi.

i didn't know that it worked with a passport drive. with that in mind, i suppose i can't see why it wouldn't work with this nas then - it'll definitely have a usb port.
