Are you being serious? I am and I know what I am talking about - steam generated iron does not take tap water nicely or you have to by replacement filters at a big cost.

Their prices are nuts now. Last time I bought triple QX antifreeze it was half the price it is now. Plus there was a 20% discount.
You can take the pss - but eventually you get found out.

I'm afraid not. Get down to sunny Gatwick! Where are you heading? Safe flight. And if you're bringing some de-ionised water with you...only 100ml please!!

Airline pilot. Not an iron snob haha but if it's there to use! I'd be spending £30 on one if I was buying it myself. And not planning on buying this to use in the iron really it's just ECP that suggested it was one use for it. The only thing I've ever used deinonised water for is topping up an old car battery. Can't really think of another use for it tbh unless anyone else can? Maybe the radiator in the car? Some people even suggest using it in the screenwash to prevent the jets becoming blocked but I think that's going a bit far. Thought some BMW user manuals say to use distilled water?! Sounds expensive.

The way a dehumidifier works is not that different from actual distillation, as both have final results of evaporated and subsequently condensed water. However, the heavy metals in the dehumidifier are always present, and any unsterilised environment (such as the tank) serves as an open environment for microbes. Water collected from a dehumidifier is known as "gray water." This kind of water is not recommended for human or animal consumption, but it is deemed safe for other uses, such as watering plants.

No I didn't actually buy it it's my house mate who's foolish enough! It's one of those morphy Richards steam generator ones. It does make light work of my uniform shirts for work and they take seconds to do!

Tap water does a lot of jobs. Topping up a car battery isn't one of them, though this task is less common these days.

My iron disagrees

My iron has needed treating with a descaler or vinegar a lot over the last few months so to avoid having to replace a £150 iron I might start using this in it. I only iron work shirts so wouldn't get through a lot.
