Re 9 I too would be interested in recommendations. I am fed up of Dulux turning yellow!

Another result of the Evil Eu!

I've got skirts and wooden archways painted with oil based primer, undercoat and gloss finish that are nearly 20 years old and look like new. I have an internal door painted with water based gloss and despite using a quality knot blocker, oil has seeped out and is clearly evident and within a year the paint has badly discoloured, oh yes and it took nearly four coats to get an even colour as well.

If you want paint they will last go to Brewers and get some trade paint or at the very least use oil based paints on woodwork.

More recent oil based formulations are restricted by EU law and this caused a spate of yellowing complaints. Our EU overlords decided that having to repaint more often is better for the environment.
