Appears this TV is going down in price week by week recently.
I am very close to bitting point on this TV. Question is - will it reach £800 soon?!
Edit: Now priced at £829 & confirmed that JL is price matching.

Gone down to £829.99. I got a Price Match from JL But they wanted me to purchase at Full Price & then they'd refund the difference back? That doesn't seem correct to me... Shall I try another Price Match in hope of getting another agent?
Nice! I have re-sbmitted my price match for the extra £10 off! Thats the way which JL do their price matches as far as i'm aware. Refund is quite quick unless using paypal originally to purchase as that may take more time to process the refund.
Your link is for 49" curve version and this is for the 55". Its a question of personal preference I think. If you have the positioning set good in the room for curve then it may well suite your needs! Apparently good viewing angles are reduced for the curve though.

I have this tv and its probably the best you can get for a gaming tv as it has very low lag even with hdr on which looks great. There was a few issues with some of the early sets backs becoming unstuck as they didnt use screws but i think that has been resolved now. I wouldnt buy if you use free sat tho as they use 1080i which looks bad on this set not sure if sky use 1080i aswell. Any hd channel that uses 1080p like youview looks really good

Yes glued backs, they put them back into an oven to fix them.Hope they are back to using screws.

I did a price match with Jl on this on Sunday . I accidentally submitted it twice off my iPad . A couple of hours later I had 2 emails , 1 refusing it from some bloke and accepted by a woman . So I suppose it's always worth trying again if you get refused .

I've had this TV since November and I love it. You have to spend time calibrating the picture so it is just right. Broadly speaking, all the fancy processing options - you turn off. There are lots of guides out there and a very active user thread over on avforums. The contributors there are always happy to help. That said, I DO occasionally see some minor judder but NOTHING that is majorly offputting. People have suggested a power down of the set, perhaps once a week, so I am going to start trying that. 4k content (Planet Earth 2 on 4k blu ray) look incredible. You do need a high speed HDMI cable though when viewing 4k blu ray, otherwise the picture/sound will continually drop in and out (£5 from Amazon). LED strip lights help to make the TV look fantastic whilst hung on the living room wall (again, £5 from Amazon). I do occasionally get the odd gremlin while using the smart TV interface, but nothing that is majorly offputting. Well worth the money, especially at this price (I paid £1000).

I think only the channel broadcast over satellite are 1080i i noticed a difference when watching freesat on certain programs but anything over aireal or online streams like bt sport is 1080p which looks great i cant report on what the sky channels are like as i dont have them
scotia2
22 Mar 171#25
Well the problem here is that the majority of UK HD channels are broadcast in 1080i...

lots of bad reviews around, is this still plagued with artefact issues or did a firmware update fix it?
Anonknowmouse to scotia2

So many people blame 'TV problems' like motion blur, motion artifacts, motion judder, etc on their TV, when it's normally due to a low frame-rate, low bit-rate or processing by the TV.
Also some people are just more critical and will never be happy unless they're watching the equivalent of Dolby Vision at home.

Have not seen a single bad review myself, been looking as just been offered this as a replacement for a Samsung UE55JU7000.No 3D but seems to excel in every other area so i guess i should say yes.Hate the stand so will most likely use a bracket.

Yeah I came across that in my searching but looks like that's something that you need to set manually? Seems like a step in the right direction but the best thing about the Ambilight is that it matches whatever's on the screen and it does it really well in a way that's not distracting.
I used this works really well. ihttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01HV6AWVM/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1&th=1. think the artifact issue people have reported on this set all relate to when the program souce is 1080i it just dont look good on this set there are setting that are meant to fix it but they dont really make much difference

You can use Zeek to buy gift cards for 4-10% off retail price. They had some for John Lewis when I checked this morning but I just checked again for you and they seem to be sold out for now
Have you managed to get JL to price match?
Near enough all the reviews I've read for this TV are really promising. I'm still kicking myself for not buying this in November when all retailers were selling for £850 and there was plenty of stock going around
I bought the Philips TV in the Argos deal recently but it's been giving me a lot of problems so will be getting the Samsung as I think that the Philips will never be 100% for me even if I manage to work out some of the problem - there's still light bleed, colour banding and a laggy remote.
One of the things I'll really miss is the Ambilight - now that I've had it I don't think I can do without as it does really improve the viewing experience. I've been looking online and you can buy various kits with LED strips that you can stick to your TV for the same effect - but the most promising one (Lightpack 2) isn't available til April/May so will be keeping an eye on that.

I have this set and have just watched Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, it's in 4k with HDR and 60 fps. Absolutely mind blowing picture, awful movie in my opinion, but for the sheer spectacle of what this set can achieve its excellent. I bought mine in January and am blown away with all the stuff I have watched on it, especially HDR.

Submitted the price match request but not heard anything back. If they do come through then I'll be buying some gift cards to make it even cheaper

I have a Samsung and have seen plenty artefact issues with the smoothness turned up. It's to be expected as it's filling frames that don't exist, using interpolation. Turning it off obviously removes the issue, but I'm reading people saying it exists even with it off on this set.
