Only 30 day warranty but prices are not falling for externals due to high demand so I've took the risk and ordered one. Hope this helps others looking for similar

That is a better price per TB, if that counts for anything

That's pretty good, £18 per TB compared to this deal which is £18.33 per TB, where did you get that?

I requested that they email me when back in stock but they didn't, I just happened to check earlier. Hope I've made the right choice anyway, never had any trouble with WD drives (unlike Seagate, had a couple fail on me), still using my 1TB WD external from about 8 years ago and another WD which is also fine

Same place as this deal - directly from WD

Ah yes I was going to go for that if the 6TB version wasn't avaialble. Just curious, if you enter the serial into the WD site and it says it still has say 18 months' warranty left, does that not still apply?

But it takes same space on desk as 6tb

I'm no Martin Lewis but I can't see how a "30 day warranty" on a drive costing £110 is legal!

Think he means 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE and usual 12 month consumer rights.

It's a 6 month warranty on recertified drives.

I've just returned a NAS as the fan failed on the enclosure.

The advert at the link says 30 day money back guarantee. The UK consumer rights give you 12 months no matter what some US company might say.

Even on a second hand product?

Yes, if you buy from a retailer. You will also be protected if you buy using a credit card if the item costs over £100 without P&P.

Ah well, so much for the "Notify me when back in stock" link on the WD website. Still, I've learned that this only applies for 60 days and then they remove you from the list, so something to be aware of for next time.

I bought a 3GB model last year and RMA'd it directly with WD after the limited warranty expired they sent me a 4GB replacement no questions asked. I suspect they're aren't tracking which drives are sold as recons, and as long as said drive is still under the original warranty they will honour it.

I got my 3GB WD MyBook Mac from Tesco Extra (INSTORE only). It was on the shelf for £109, got them to price check and it came up as £71.14. I have reformatted for Win10, as it acts as a backup for my NAS and PC. Brand New Sealed Box with full 12 months warranty.
