The Xbox one and ps4 doesn't do over 60hz, neither does any broadcast on TVs. Anything above 60hz on TVs is achieved by motion interpolation, which is a form of digital processing that tries to generate frames to smoothen out the image. It's not real 120hz and usually causes input lag, making it unsuitable for fast paced gaming.
It's a nice thing to have for video content but recommended to be disabled for gaming.

Its a pretty good set, yeah its a bit buggy but that's down to the Android software and even the Sony sets have problems running it. 2 years warranty with it should be worth the gamble and by 2019 oled sets will be at an affordable level.

It did sound hectic but I decided to make the move. Went to the store, politely explained that I bought it at higher price a week ago. Got a smile from manager, refunded my original purchase and virtually sold the TV to me at today's price. Extra £27 in pocket now.

Annoying its gone down in price another £27, sent a polite email - nothing ventured nothing gained and all that! :stuck_out_tongue:
I've had the tv a week now. Its a decent set. Good picture, didn't notice any input lag or light bleeding. The ambi-light is a bit of a gimmick for me so its turned off and sometimes the wireless doesn't connect straight away although that could be the signal strength.
Its a decent entry level set for the money. It also hooge compared to the 32" I had before. :P

Same here. I've contacted them. They are saying if you've not opened it then you can take it back to store and they'll process a refund and re-sale on lower price. Sounds too hectic for me

Don't buy it folks I've had nothing but trouble with sync errors and other annoying problems. Sometimes it didn't even turn on. Got to say Philips customer service has been shocking as well. It's taken me 3 months to get an engineer to attend to repair.

Agree, a lot of FUD in the industry. Unfortunately it seems to be working as a lot of people post similar comments regarding the refresh rate. Not realising what the manufacturer is talking about is motion interpolation and that has considerable drawbacks.
I would disagree with this part. I prefer the occasional judder/motion blur thats an inherent part of the source over the Soap Opera effect and artefacts introduced by motion interpolation. It's always turned off or to the absolute minimum on my TVs.

I bought this set on Black Friday last year (£404) but had to return it, horizontal lines and some glitches on the screen. It was a headache as Argos didn't want to take it back. Also, HDR here is low quality IMO. Not sure if worthy for PS4 Pro / Xbox One S.
but all the reviews are quite positive!! what to believe hmmm, should probably just wait til my current TV breaks anyways and then HDR will be more affordable on better brands

I too had a set replaced due to a 30mm wide parallel section all up the rhs of the screen form the outer edge. Noticeable as lighter green band when watching football on sky. Replacement appears OK. Settings not being lost and set is on latest (Dec 2016) firmware.
If you aren't happy then return it - if you can find a replacement to swap it for....
added - have you tried the settings from post #36 ? brightness and gamma high would make light bleeds more noticeable

Plus Amazon video 4k content's audio seems out of sync... hmmm...
Thanks, I'll have another tinker. Needed to tone down the colour, natural motion and also turned off dynamic contrast as seemed to be losing detail. Amazon Prime 4k videos look great.
Have you got the avforum calibration link?

Just bought it, 390.05 delivered, will arrive tomorrow.
It has been an impulsive buy, 2 months ago I spent a couple of nights looking for tvs, researching all the technical details, reviews, forums etc. At the end of my marathon I didn't buy anything because there was always some issue or if there wasn't any issue, the price was way too high.
This time I searched for smart tv here, scrolled down a bit, saw this one, spent 10 minutes on googling it and boom bought it ... I hope I will not regret my choice.

The majority of TVs are just 60hz regardless of what the spec says. Also most PS4 games are locked at 30fps and no games run over 60fps. My point being 60hz is enough for a PS4.

These tv deals always do my head in never really knowing if they would be good for gaming and what the pitfalls are... most of the time I give up but this looks decent for the price :P
Here's my story of why you should buy a TV with an ambient back-light, or fit one:
My TV is edge lit for better blacks, but I can't see them in my room because the screen is semi-glossy like a window. Nothing ruins the immersion of a tense night gunfight more than noticing your gormless face appear like a second moon. Decided I'd risk death by tripping and live with no light like a vampire.
My TV is LED so it's brighter. However on 0 it's bright even with a bit of ambient light, so i get eyestrain causing slightly blurry vision like I'm a bit drunk. If I was none of this would bother me.
Not deterred I bought an LED ambient lighting kit powered by the USB, and thought this will solve all my problems.
Like my previous TV it turned everything off, but then after a few seconds it got lonely and turned the USB back on.
I bought a smart plug to fix this, but wish they'd use slightly dimmer and less reflective matte screens.
This Philips has a built in ambient light which should mean none of the issues I've had, and it increases perceptual contrast. Plus changing the colour should be a fun novelty?!

I had this at Christmas for about 2 weeks. Crashed almost every other day and struggled sometimes with kodi, also I didn't think the picture was that great. Ambilight was a nice touch but not all that. I took it back and got Samsung.
Jaybeam
1 Mar 17#2
I've read the ambilight is really good from other threads(Samsung 7000 series) that don't have it, and since all edge lit TVs suffer from clouding and backlights problems to some extent, this seems a good price. Heat.

2 Mar 17#14
Yep, I have it and had never experienced ambilight before, but I really love it. It's just a really pleasant feature to light up the back wall behind the tv (when it works. First TV I picked up had issues and periodically went into a flashy, fit-inducing strobe thing. Replacement was fine!).

Likely because it is android TV not phone/tablet android. Some companies that have made android OS apps have not ported them to android TV which is a shame as in most cases it is very simple. FYI I have an nvidia shield android TV and have had some success side loading standard android apps but your mileage may vary depending on the interface of the app you are side loading and the input options on the TV remote.
