I'm not really a whiskey drinker but I could become one with Monkey Shoulder. Very smooth stuff. Excellent price.

why are they calling it malt whisky?
it's not single malt whisky
all decent Scotch whisky is (part) malt whisky
sounds like a deception

They are calling it blended malt whisky because it's blended malt whisky.
It's not deception, they don't say it's a single malt in the listing.

Because it's a blended malt.

Inspired by the malt man's craft, Monkey Shoulder has been created using three of Speyside's finest single malt whiskies, resulting in a rich blended malt of exceptional smoothness
I'm not a whisky drinker but apparently (so my hubby says) it's really nice and smoother than the other blended e.g. bells.

All blends have some malt but also have grain. This has no grain and is a blended malt (formerly vatted malt). There are some decent whiskies with no malt too - but not the one in a blue bottle.
To me, this is over-rated. I've had better blended malts and blends - but rarely cheaper than this. For 20 notes you can see for yourself - I'm in the minority as most people rate it.

Never been this low that I have seen. If you have friends who's only experience of whisky is Bells or some other cheap rubbish try them with this. Very approachable for newbies and a very good dram. I already have a bottle but if I didn't I would be down Morrisons today . Have some heat !!!
