From experience of similar devices, the Z3735F is the weak point. Should be fine for light surfing and equally light media applications, but that specific CPU does not support x265/HEVC so limits media versatility. Similar with Z8000 series (Z8300, Z8500 and Z8700) has dedicated hardware support for x265/HEVC. Any upgrade to W10 will require significant preparation. On various similar devices, once installed I haven't found 32GB to be a limitation for w10 if the installation is kept lean and that is reasonably straightforward to attain by prudent use of expandable memory options. The cost is probably reasonable for the form factor if the intended application is not demanding but other options (likely at marginally higher price) may return better versatility and value if the form factor is not a critical consideration.

No experience with the Hannspree but played around with the first-gen Intel Compute sticks and first-gen Lenovo stick.
Both struggled with low Wifi performance (when Bluetooth was used) and the Lenovo didn't support Windows 10, unless you disabled write cache the update just bricked it. Apparently the 2nd gen devices were better with m5 processor and more storage available, because 32Gb for Win10 is not great, the OS has to be compacted and updates to new Windows builds require an SD card.
Intel seem to abandon the sticks, their focus is not the Compute card (where the host device provides cooling and storage)

a much better price but when you get windows tablets for less than this (albeit 1gb ram instead of 2), it's hard to justify. make them sub £30 and i'll get one and probably rarely use it once the initial playing around and setting up is over

Did you just say a quadcore Baytrail should be okay for light internet surfing???

The Z3735F is a very good basic CPU from what I've seen. I have a number of tablets based around this and a Lenovo IdeaPad 100S with Windows 10 - and I've found it's one of the devices I use the most, especially if I'm out and about, it's so lightweight and low-cost I don't need to worry too much. Anyway, as an internet and basic productivity tool, it's near perfect (I wouldn't have minded paying a little more for a metal body and 64GB storage). I've heard the same about HEVC/x265 support but haven't hit a wall with this yet - I guess for 'Compute Sticks' like this where you might plug it into a TV this is more of an issue.
As others have noted, the sticks seem to be a bit of a red herring as a Windows tablet plugged into the TV is invariably cheaper and can be tucked behind out of the way while having a 'free screen'.

How easy would it be to install Linux to that?

What I was wondering. Looks like it should be possible:
As-is: fine, but no support for x265 / HEVC content. If Kodi is the primary intended use and the form factor is not critical, an Android box will be more versatile, offer better media support, and be cheaper.
