these prices will come down by another £30-40 when Ti hit the market. so wait till then. atm retailers not drop the price properly. Anyway not Voted hot or cold. OcUK & Scan is always expensive for VGA cards.

You don't need a 1080 ti for 4K gaming. My MSI 1070 gaming X 8g easily runs all games at 4K maxed out. The 1060 runs games at 4K as did my 970. There are too many myths about 4K gaming. There are also too many people who will tell you that cards such as the 1070 won't do smooth 4k gaming. Most of these will never have tried because they don't have the rigs to do so

Ti founders will be coming in at about £700 plus so can't really see the 1080 and 1070 dropping too much. Plus if you're not running 4k I wouldn't bother getting a Ti

Not sure if I'm ready to say goodbye to my trusty 970 just yet

sorry not true I bought a 560ti, and happily has futre proofed me for years now. It really struggles with 2160p videos at time so now I think I am going to upgrade and 1080ti fills my boots and should be viable for several years less a new breakthrough technology comes out.

Its alright for some :P im still 50/50 on an RX 480! for a budget 1080p build  have fun with this one guys i might be able to catch you up in a few years

Will the price drops affect systems as well? I'm on the verge of buying a new laptop and need a 1070 in it.

waiting for breexit excuss no matter what we get screwed
Personally, nvidia have had it far too easy with regards to competition. Same as Intel... Graphics Cards and CPUs respectively.
Hopefully AMD rattle both of their cages.

1080 Ti FE is £699.

Yes but if you're gaming at 4K or above. Them 10% in frames can make the difference between dips below 60FPS and staying above. Hell I can't even max some games at 1440p with my GTX1080 let alone 4K

Part of me is upset this card is dropping in price as I bought my one in January for £535, but hay not going to cry over £36 (and yes I know everyone was saying wait for 1080TI… but I am inpatient), Part of me wants it to drop more so I can buy a second for SLI.:sunglasses:

I paid £690 for my EVGA GTX 1080 FTW but had it a while now so i guess I'll take a hit of £350. It's convenient that the launch of the TI is after the 6 months when you can send it in and get a TI from the factory for a modest price / Upgrade.

2 Mar 17#28
Why? If you are gaming then your current card will be absolutely fine for a few years. Does anyone at present really need 11gb vram? By the time that's needs the next generation of cards will be out.
The TI is never going to fulfil its potential as the type of people that will buy it will automatically upgrade when the next generation comes out.

I'd edited it to mention extra % gains rather than a specific number.
However, 90% in PC terms.... That extra 10% gain when you're already top end, ain't going to make much difference. I personally wouldn't notice a 60FPS game being any less smoother than say 66FPS.
It might not necesserily translate to an extra 10% in FPS... but you get my point.
benfisher1991
2 Mar 17#26
What if 90% isn't enough?
DarrylJohn
2 Mar 17#25
It's one thing being on the "latest phone" trend, it's another entirely chasing the top end cards for that extra %.
I always go for the one below the top end, because on performance... it's never worth the gain. I'd expect the vega to be cheaper than a cheap 1080.

With the Ti's and Vega around the corner these will drop down cheaper than this ..

I read the release date is week of 5th March, so possibly next week! No mention if that was US only mind.
the best thing is they haven't put a mega price tag on this card for it being a first edition / ti.

2 Mar 17#22
having read up on the Ti it seems to outperform the Titan X!
its roughly 30% more powerful than the 1080gtx too. astonishing card for £650-700.
I can see new 1080's falling to the £400 mark
RedRain
2 Mar 171#17
is the new ti capable of 4k/60fps ultra ?

Yeh, its 35% faster than 1080, even faster than a Titan X Pascal.

price set up at $499(rrp) soon after the 1080ti will come out. I would expect to come down to around £400/420.
Wait for the vega and it will be on sale at poundland

I am not a AMD fan, however looking at the Ryzen release they could be in for an upturn. This is what we all need really because it will spur on development by both camps.

the 1070 will go down, as the 1080 is pushed down. It will stop at around 270-300 in preparation for Vega release, and the rx 570/580.

You are absolutely right but there is also a difference between Needs and Wants... I don’t need a 1080 but want a 1080 and I certainly don’t need SLI but I want that too
I am sure there are a few of us that don’t NEED 4K but it’s so dam shiny we want it… :stuck_out_tongue:

in the tech world there is no future proofing buy on your needs whether it be 1080p/1440p ect
dave959525
2 Mar 17#12
Wow i didnt know that, thanks for the info... Sounds like a good plan! Maybe i will buy another one now then and send them both back for SLI... yes im sure people are going to say that i wont need two as the TI should be more than enough to play all current and new games, but i like to keep future proof as much as possible.

Add into this the AMD 570,580, Vega 11 and Vega 10. I think that then Vega 10 will muddy the water at 475-525 range. Not sure when to jump, but I will wait until the faster memory filters through.

Bought this on the £529.99 offer a while back. Worst coil whine I've ever heard on an electronics product. Sent it back the next day after reading a ton of reviews about the G1 Gaming / Windforce being overly loud with coil whine. I probably won't buy Gigabyte again. Gonna grab an aftermarket 1080 Ti in a couple of months.

Question is what is the 1070 going to end up at? I also wonder if the 1080 will end up a bit out of place like the 980 did.
arealmentalist to vmistery
2 Mar 17#6
yeah pretty much 1070 will rule the 270-300 range and 1080ti will rule the 500-600 range while the 1080 sits around 450 range. Most people will be on either end of the spectrum.
