Found some cheap flights on skyscanner to Bali from London Heathrow in May. Looks like for the best price fly on Tuesday.
Fly on Garuda airways which I believe is the national airline for Indonesia. There is a short onward stopover at Jakarta and a return one at Singapore. You could include a city break in Jakarta by paying around £35 extra.
This has now been reduced to £390.47. See below.
I think this works over half term as well.

You are probably right. I think Qatar airways had a sale in January which probably worked out cheaper but this is no longer available. Tempting if you can schedule around the May bank holidays.

I've always fancied Bali, but I 've got a friend from Australia who swears that Bali is like Magaluf for Aussies...! Any Truth in that?
Still very tempting. Good deal BTW OP.

Bali is huge.. Kuta does have a bit of a club scene but if you further north like ubud that's when you see some natural and temple awesomeness.

It's not like Magaluf. There are beach areas with cheap hotels and cheap beer, but also beach areas with 5* hotels with private beaches, or inland (e.g. Ubud) there are mountains, forests, ruined temples etc. You can rent a private villa with a private pool in a fantastic location for the same price as a Premier Inn in a UK city. When I went a few years ago, we stayed in a collection of villas where the total number of rooms in the 'resort' was less than the number of staff. There is seriously lots to do (or conversely, lots of nothing to do if you prefer) without ever having to see the loud beach crowd.

Wow one small bit of it is like that "Kuta beach" the rest of it you couldn't find a chilled tranquil place.

When walking through Kuta, particularly at night keep your hands in your pocket on your wallet and phone. Pickpockets are everywhere including little kids. Bali is beautiful. Kuta is Magaluf for ozzies. Use Uber when over there for cabs. You'll save a fortune. Check out Trunyan for a really interesting experience.
Been to Bali 3 times. Love it. Nice people great food and great scenery. I would opt for any other airline to get me there tho.

Hey thanks for the tip, I've been researching Ubud all evening and it looks superb. Far from the maddening crowd! - So certainly one of my key requirement from a holiday like this. Ubud looks perfect.

Not the main reason to get insurance.

Does Skyscanner actually sell flights themselves? If not, I'm randomly googling cheap stuff and posting deals as "1 kilo of stuff, £3.50 @ Google" in the future

No it is a search engine for flights. You need to click on the results to select a particular travel agent or airline .

I'd recommend this place. Really excellent service and very peaceful. You can either rent an entire villa (for 4+) or half of a duplex villa (for a couple) which has its own pool and feels like it's on its own.
Agreed, its Lovina every time for us. Long transfer of 2.5 hrs but fantastic scenery all the way. We stay here: http://www.adiramabeachhotel.com/
Fantastic small hotel, friendly staff. See my reviews on Trip Advisor. Amazing restaurant menu too.

I would just say the flight times are quite poor, unless you are staying close to the airport. It may involve a night on arrival and before departure at a hotel close to the airport. If you don't like commercialism, avoid Kuta, the north coast is quieter.
