Don't see a problem with V brakes, been good enough for the past 20 years..

I'm after a decent mountain bike deal if anyone knows of one? i bought a Giant Revel the other year for £175 but i can only find similar bikes for £300+ at the moment. it's a present for my son for his birthday.
Tredz only have the 21" extra large in stock :disappointed:

Nearly the same as my trike of fifty years ago except it had three wheels and no gears and solid tyres

If it had discs I'd be all over it, but not sure I can go back to v brakes.

I think the 8 speed hub would be a far better enhancement. Nothing wrong with a decent set of V brakes as long as they are properly set up. Lighter too!

Don't write it off just because of the v- brakes. Unless you're loading it up with half a hundred weight of camping gear, or live in mud/crud permanently you won't notice a massive difference between low end discs and half decent v-brakes.
