I guess the batter they put in chips isn't always gluten free

McCain and Albert Bartlett use Wheat Flour for the batter so not Gluten Free.
Aunt Bessie's don't use Wheat Flour so are Gluten Free.

you can get Tesco own brand chips/fries which don't have any coating so would be gluten free, and are cheap

Wasn't an issue 10 years ago or so so why now? just to be cool and hipster?

Not a fad here either. It's a medical condition. 20 years of stomach problems stopped overnight! Maybe you can get a little education on this site as well as saving some cash

maybe some people do it as a fad but others do it for genuine health reasons, and not only because of coeliac.
my brother gets an itchy rash and stomach problems when he eats gluten, but doesn't have coeliac. doc says he's gluten intolerant, but they don't know why it affects him like that

Bought these a few weeks ago from Farmfoods £1.85 for a 1.5kg bag as i hadnt had crinkle cut chips for years. Wasnt dissapointed there big and chunky and very tasty, bought a bag of Tesco homestyle crinkle cut oven chips ( closer than Farmfoods ) last weekend and can recomend them just the same and cheaper.

My daughter has the skin rash from consuming Gluten supposedly Dermatitis Herpitiformis but all tests keep coming back negative. She also gets the stomach symptoms. It can be quite hard to diagnose. The rash is absolutely terrible and can breakout into large lesions. I fkin hate it when people call it a fad.. no its real and the associated skin condition is completely awful ! Thanks goodness there are more Gluten Free products these days.
