1050 is a good card, especially with 4gb of ram. Not the best card, but for £800 this will play most games at high or ultra at 1080 with decent frame rates. If you can find better, please post. 1050m Ti would be nice, but would cost more. 1060, 1070, 1080, etc...

1050 is similar to a 970m so this is a good price for a new laptop

No its not, the 1050 in laptops is slightly nerfed to the desktop version. the 970m is over 30% faster.

Check the benchmarks of the games you want to play, games like fallout 4 and witcher 3 will need settings turned down to keep it smooth on a 1050 mobile

Performance is between the 960m and 970m (though closer to the 960m) if you look at the gaming benchmarks. The Ti is comparable to the 970m though but not the standard 1050. The 1060 is on a whole different level....that would be the one I'd go in 2017 if I wanted a 'gaming' type laptop.

This is the same spec, cheaper with the 10% off code and comes with a £100 Xbox Elite controller. Therefore this ain't a great deal unless you don't like HP.

You're not really comparing like for like though. The Omen has a really crappy screen and the keyboard gets very warm during use (potential deal breaker if you do alot of typing). There are more to laptops that just the CPU/GPU.....

According to scan.co.uk this model comes with a 2GB GTX 1050, so I'm not sure if Amazon has it right?

I agree. I think it's currently the wrong time to buy a 1050 based laptop as this is simply the first wave of releases (unless of course you can get it for a crazy price). Like you I would also wait for a Ti or price drops on the 1060.

Nice spec machine but also concerned about the 1050 perf.
Likely a heavy beast of a thing with that hdd in there too.

I think thats a mistake from amazon, as stated above it will be the 2gb version, its not a bad price for the spec but i think its worth saving another £100-200 more for a better spec
