My old Black & Decker 8.4V (Ithink) NiCad hammer drill, bought as a wedding present in 1995, worked fine for most of my needs. The battery gave out after 15 years but I could probably replace the cells and revive it  I still have it somewhere in the shed!

I only have a drill driver. It's a nice 18V Lithium ion Worx, which replaced a 20 year old NiCad Black and Decker hammer drill/drill driver after its battery expired and though I don't use it that much, I do occasionally miss the hammer function for mounting things on walls. So I'm selling my Worx (which has two batteries and I have only ever used one!) and getting this. I couldn't find a Li-Ion combi drill like this that was actually available as cheap as this, with a battery and a case. I doubt it would last 5 minutes on a building site but I'm sure It'll be fine for my needs.

Good deal if you missed out on a 18v one they did 4 months ago.

Depends what you are drilling into, it took an sds to fit the curtain rail above my lounge window due to the dense concrete lintel, a typical mains powered hammer drill couldn't get more than plaster depth.

Just bought one. Seems decent. £25 is silly money really. Only downside is just one battery...but then you could just buy 2 drills for the second battery and its still a bargain.

The 18V battery on my Worx lasts for ever. It came with a second battery but I have not had to use it. That's my level of use of course, so one battery for me is no issue at all.
I ordered mine online in case the local store ran out. Already had some interest in buying my Worx for more than I paid for this.

Now sold my old non-hammer drill for £10 more than this one  Oh, and my local Aldi had none in stock this afternoon, so pretty pleased I ordered online!

Sold out online and as I said earlier, none in my local store. Aldi says the one I ordered online has shipped, which is just as well as I have sold my old drill driver!

Might last for 2-3 years infrequent use - dont expect to get 10 years out of it like a Dewalt or Makita.
But there again its not Makita/DeWalt money.
Bought cheap Aldi/Lidl tools in the past, they dont tend to work well after a couple of years. Gave up and I only buy decent stuff now.

It really depends on how much use you expect to do with it. My consuber Black and Decker from 1995 still works fine mechanically, it's just the battery that's worn out. I tend to use it sporadically. It might not get used for months and then a project might happen.
I'm getting slightly worried about the one I ordered as the Hermes tracking still just says 'ordered' 24 hours after Aldi emailed me to say it had been despatched.
*Update - panic over, shipping tracking has updated and might get it today or tomorrow

I've had different experiences. I'm head of D&T at a secondary school. We got a similar Aldi drill at least 3 years ago. After years of abuse by 14-16 year olds, its just starting to show some wear. The chuck / spindle has a bit of wobble. Battery still holds charge like new, still quite useable overall. Granted, not the same as regular trade use, but certainly more stick than most DIYers could throw at it. We also have a couple of 18v ryobi drills that cost £50 each - they are positively crap. We have a £99 makita diy drill - I'd say thats marginally better than the Aldi one has been. The thing is...I can buy 4 Aldi drills for the cost of one DIY grade makita one. Obviously professional grade makita / bosch etc are in a different league, but then you're talking serious money. For £25, this deal is hard to beat.

It's here  Smaller, less bulky, than the WORX drill driver it replaces. I like the three battery charge status LEDs. If there is a niggle - there is no provision to store a driver bit on the drill itself. Battery charging up - so far so good.
