Is there a spare antenna wire going to one of the vacant slots, it could be for a WWAN card (3G/4G LTE), even if the antenna isn't there it could still be a slot for the WWAN card if that motherboard is also used in a model of laptop that has the card (Probably a sim slot on the motherboard somewhere if this is the case)

I did and they deny their being any expansion slots at all even though they begrudgingly admit that even though they are not listed they might well be there and work properly though advice me not to use them because they might be crippled.
I am not all that familiar with current day tech and corporate policies but remember well from the 90's and early millenial systems i owned or tinkered with that sometimes setting jumper or dipswitches could gain more features normally reserved for more expensive systems. IE i owned a Phillips TV card (analog) that could do video capturing if a jumper was set and a rca connector connected to its io pins but cost half the price as the one that did this out of the box or boxes in which CPUs used external cache which turned out to be soldered on to the main board but was only available after a reflash of the systems firmware.
In short i shall investigate but nothing will really surprise me.

im no expert but don't ssd performance drop significantly as more data is written to it? so in theory this used ssd could be running at well below advertised speeds. And £66 for 275gb is hardly a big saving for an item that's been used.

iF You have an m2 slot for wifi it wont be compatible with this. this is just a sata ssd in the m2 formfactor so no real benefit except size. With m2 slots for storage you have to check the size 2240,2260,2280 then the protocol, sata or nvme, then whether its bootable or not , if all thats good to go jump in. Also if they are nvme then they might be throttled by by pciex2 rather than pciex3 or two pcie lanes rather than four, which could impact on your gfx card or the number of sata drives you can attach.. all fairly simply really. The best is really nvme x PCIEx4 , like the SMUNG 960 evo

M.2 SATA has two slots on the connection, this will run at SATA speeds (around 500MB/s read & write)
M.2 NVMe only has a single slot on the connection and runs at PCI speeds (up to 3000MB/s read and 1500MB/s write)
The slots are not compatible, check your motherboard. Also, some older motherboards may not support booting from an NVMe drive.
Could you not contact their support team and get a definitive answer?

Thats as far as i got but when installing an SSD in place of the hard drive i noticed 3 slots of which one was populated by a WiFi/Bluetooth expansion so presumably it is PCIe the other two slots are similar and have lines silk-screened on the motherboard the size of these cards however since i have never inspected a M2 slot or card up close i am just unsure and since Lenovo does not list it as an option in my opinion its a case of being lucky and have a working interface or having one crippled by Lenovo to be able to sell more models of laptops. It must be possible to get a readout of the present slots and their current occupation i just dont know how.

Read/Write speeds are in the 500MB/s range about the same as a standard SSD.
I've got one of these: Samsung PM961...Read 3000MB/s Write 1400MB/s...well worth the extra cash and its brand new.

No i own a laptop equal to the French Spanish and UK one but with a US keyboard due to my country of origin (The Netherlands) using the international standard US QWERTY layout which is ever so slightly different from UK QWERTY and me preferring it.
I bought a spanish keyboard when i was taking spanish lessons and i bought a German laptop with German keyboard before simply because it was way cheaper to switch the keyboard then to buy the same laptop in Holland.

Way overthinking it.
Still running spinning rust HDDs with over 50,000 hours, working like a champ. Backup/Image data regularly and don't put yourself in a situation where if a drive dies you lose everything and save dollar in the process. If anything SSDs would last Longer and M.2 is a relatively new technology, I doubt they've been hammered in a corporate file server 24/7.

Doesn't say anywhere that it supports M.2 drives. Only says up to 2 TB HDD / up to 1 TB SSHD.
i wonder if there is an easy way to see if a laptop has the required slot? Lenovo is ambiguous about its existence in my laptop.
