I agree real mash is much tastier. But if you're in a hurry or just feeling too lazy this might be useful.
I always think the same when i see mixes for yorkshire puds and victoria sponges, both of which i like making from scratch.

actually its nice stuff, had the rest of mine not long ago, who cares how cheap potatoes are when its a **** on, first youve gotta wash them, then peel, then cook them, mash em. like half hours work, or do this in about 2 mins..... i know what i prefer

this stuff is actually great for thickening things, coating things that are to be deep fried, adding to bread to make it nice and soft, and my personal favourite, making gnocchi.
