Because it's so much better than putting 15 teaspoons of sugar in your body for every bottle you drink.
Natural == Good, Artificial == Bad, right?
Natural things: arsenic, strychnine, morphine, lead
Artificial things: vitamin C, vitamin E, seedless bananas, corn, chickens, etc etc.

For 20p, expiry is excellent. Normally you'll be lucky to get 2 weeks

Very recently, for the first time ever, I had a 2 litre bottle that tasted absolutely awful - horrible with a tar-esque taste of rotten sugar that persuaded me to just buy coke. No idea why, but...it tasted similar to Sainsbury's cheap 50 pence colas.

the date shouldn't mean anything in these kind of drinks surely. the amount of chemicals should mean it lasts way beyond?

Not for Pepsi drinkers in the USA though, they woke up and it was removed. However, elsewhere and especially here it was left in because apparently Brits love aspartame. Ha ha ha..
Synthetic artificial crap.
WHY on earth would you put that inside your body?
