Xbox 360 controllers are great for the PC (and the declining Xbox 360 user base), PC Gamer (US) have the Xbox 360 controller as "A good budget controller", listed second after the DualShock 4.
This is a deal because when buying online, controllers tend to be from £20 wired and £22 wireless: https://www.idealo.co.uk/cat/3014F456447-1005708/controllers.html
Somewhat counterintuitively, Xbox 360 controllers seem to have slightly increased in price since the Xbox One launched.
Because it's a good deal?
Brilliant for Retropie / Recalbox, as yes, the retro SNES pads are cute, but you need the analogue and shoulder buttons for N64 and PSX emulation.

But don't these only fit a pi zero (sticks out half way anyway so would hardly say it fits myself) and 64bit emulation for N 64 is not great on the zero?
Also I would imagine you can pick these up dirt cheap used. Your ripping it open anyway.

But how many people here will actually get one?

Ditto. This would be a great deal if you can find any stocks with them in stock

These are awesome for PC gaming- they're USB and many games are designed to use them from the get-go with no setup needed.
Brilliant for twinstick shooters, and perfect for racing games since not only do you get analogue steering, the analogue triggers give fine control over acceleration and braking. There's rumble too!

Coming from Tesco, what else would it have been other than brand new?

its a good deal if you can find one, non of my local stores have them which is a real shame, but thanks for posting. As for Angury getting one at 8.62 I've search for your post advising the HUKD family of this great deal but cant find where you have shared it with us. Maybe the store you purchased from still have some at 8.62 which may be of assistance to us. would you like to share ?

This deal isn't as good as the £15 Asda deal, but a deal nevertheless:
