This price is rubbish: I personally bought an S7 Edge 24 carat gold edition (brand new and mint) for 55 pence off Gumtree therefore this phone with a two year warranty that's available to anyone and everybody with no risk and a 14 day return policy should be avoided at all costs.

I think this is single SIM.
I'm picking up one of these later today as a replacement for my now flaky but beloved LG G2. Although there are definitely slightly better 2016 phones in some areas, (such as design, camera, audio, cpu), this phone at this price offers near top of the class feature set at the price of a midrange phone. I would probably choose a different flagship phone if this was full price, but unless you want to risk a no brand, grey market Chinese import, IMO there is nothing to match this Moto Z at this price point. (The OnePlus 3 was similar, but it looks like they now only make the 3T which is £100 dearer.)
Negative points I thought about while contemplating this phone were:-
* It is a taller phone than the g2, (therefore less pocketable)
* It will probably have worse battery life than the g2 did when it was new (sadly my trusty g2 battery doesn't have the puff it once had)
* It has no regular headphone jack so you cannot listen on wired headphones and charge it at the same time.
Positive thoughts were:-
* Better 2k (VR daydream capable) screen and all round better hardware. (Best current bangs per buck?)
* Stock Android instead of the dreadful LG g2 android skin
* Better security offered by new supported android versions
* It supports andriod pay
* Mods can be bought to improve the battery, camera, etc. Lenovo see these mods as a unique selling point, and they will continue to support them for a while (unlike the lg g5 mods which can't be used on future phones). There are new mods being developed by 3rd party suppliers. Any mod you invest in today should work with at least the next couple of generations of flagship Motos. (Which is clever marketing as it locks you into the brand.)
There will be new 2017 phones announced soon from all the major manufacturers. They will undoubtedly up the game even further, but the upcoming flagships will come in at two or three times the price of this offer. The price of the other 2016 flagships will come down a bit soon too, but maybe not to £300.
I hope this helps you with your choice.

The cheaper OnePlus 3 seems to be out of stock at the UK OnePlus store at the moment. The £399 OnePlus 3T is currently available.
The Moto has an SD card slot expandable to 2TB (in theory), the Oneplus 3T has no SD expansion.
The Moto has twice the OnePlus screen resolution and is Google Daydream VR ready.
The OP3T has 2GB more RAM, a slightly better processor, proper headphone jack and better battery life.
The Moto is too skinny for a headphone jack and can be "modded" for better battery, 10x optical zoom camera, etc.
IMO both are great phones for this type of money.

happy enough with mine, not a heavy user , so battery life is fine, loud speaker isn't the best, that the no headphone socket is a pain, I know you can use adaptor and blu-tooth but they should of made a headphone socket.

The lower bezel has to be big, because Motorola can't move the fingerprint scanner round the back because of the Mods.
IMO although a large lower bezel is less pocket-able and one-hand friendly, it's not all bad, as it's much easier to wake the phone when it's lying face up on the desk. Scanners on the back are less convenient once you've put the phone down.

Can anyone recommend a SD card for the Moto Z? I've tried a class 10 Samsung but the phone says it's too slow? I know there are other SD cards U1, U2, U3 etc.. But what is the best for using the SD card as the internal storage option without getting the slow message?

- bezel too huge for a 5.5" phone (LG managed to to make a much smaller device three years ago with the G3 and same screen size.
-Finger print scanner should have been a combo home button (like the S7)
-Would have taken it back had we not unlocked the bootloader and rooted it (done it to enable miracast which was missing from this device).
-wireless mirroring is still weak and flaky.
Samsung S7 edge is far superior in every way.
Love the insta-share projector though.
The turbo charge is also very handy and cool so battery life is no longer an issue.

Few days in and enjoying using the phone for the most part.
I've enables developer options and brought the icon size right down as it looked like a toy after my Note 3 running a S7 edge ROM.
Phone is lovely and quick and no hangs yet.
128GB card taken from Note worked straight away.
Back cover is stupidly slippy and supplied bumper too wide and spoils the look of the phone. Looking for something a little slimmer to replace the back and bumper.
Can't comment on the mods as I don't have one.
By far the worst thing about the phone is the lack of dedicated physical buttons for home, back and overview. Hate having to swipe down and press soft back button to exit a fullscreen app.
Overall, for the money I'm happy. The better half is over the moon with hers too.

Would have been nice if they included a type -C USB cable (not everyone has one laying around).
Going to try rooting it and modifying the build.prop file to enable miracast support (wireless video apps need home WiFi or second hotspot, miracast is direct device to device).
Google pulling miracast support from the Nexus, Pixel and this device is a huge let down especially as it can't do MHL, slimport or USB-C to HDMI out.
Before anyone mentions Chromecast, you can't directly connect and stream to Chromecast without an external WiFi network (that includes guest mode).

I agree with you greenandwhite I had the same issue they cancelled one of my order with no information and the other one went through and had the confirmation and two phone calls confirming that they will post it but then receive an email today saying that its out of stock all though they were going to post it.
I emailed them today after seeing that they have it in stock for 499 so they should post my item which I paid for.
I revieved an email tonight saying this is your product guarantee for your phone etc which is also very confusing too.
jl had the best customer service but I think its not like that anymore.

Bought this and paid for it via PayPal on 25/02/2016. Been checking my order status daily and from "being processed" it turned today to "on back order". JL have charged me. In fact the charge for 299.99 showed on my credit card the day after ordering. Phoned them up and they wanted to cancel my order, charge me 400.00 full price and then apply a credit to bring it back down to the sale price I bought it at. I told them I didn't want to cancel my order, just send my phone out since (by their own admission) they still have the phones in stock only the sale is over now.
They were having none of it. I had 2 choices: either go along with their plan which if my credit card fraud team didn't get involved in first and prevent happening would leave me at least temporarily with charges from JL totalling 699.99 for a phone that hasn't even been sent to me or I could cancel altogether. I reiterated to them I'm not accepting being charged 400.00 for anything on top of the 299.99 I've already been charged for, I just wanted my phone sent out since I've paid for it and payment has been taken. They said they'll get back to me within 24 hours to try and resolve this but I'm mightily unimpressed by JL who already have my money (thankfully paid via Paypal so I'll not lose a penny out of this) and their baffling change of status today from processing my order on the 25th, 26th and 27th to saying it's on back order (even though they have the phone in stock still!)
What a farce from a company that prides itself on customer service. If that was some Chinese warehouse worker offering me those solutions I'd be screaming "SCAM!" as I'm sure most would. Shame on you JL. I'm in the mood to cancel this order altogether now and shop elsewhere you've handled this so badly. Why not just send out my freaking phone instead of all this talk of charging me another 400.00 then crediting me????? Not a chance.

I have an iPhone 7 Plus as well but the Moto is just for work. The Pixel (not XL) was OK, just felt a bit overpriced but some key features missing and mine had a very loose volume rocker. I just liked the look and feel of the Moto Z and the options for adding new features via Mods.
Choosing a phone is really all about personal preference and what you need the phone to do. As an example I donated my Lenovo P2 to my 11 year old son as he wants to use it for Pokemon Go - the 5,100mAh battery just keeps going and going! It does everything else OK, just not to the levels of most flagships phones. But at £200 it's really good value.

Instead of buying lots of generic accessories with every new phone, it's refreshing to see add-ons designed to perfectly fit the phone.
On my shopping list (should I manage to find the missus credit card) are:
- projector mod (should make work presentations interesting)
- camera mod (10x optical zoom)
- JBL speaker mod (should sound awesome in the squash court)
- the newly announced battery pack sounds awesome
- game pad

I bought the HTC 10 and fell in love with the phone first few weeks, plus sense is so fluid. Then I sold it bought s7 and s7 edge and in all honesty the s7 edge blows the HTC away it almost makes it feel and look old fashioned and it's hard saying that as HTC invented smartphones. If only their phones could be lighter and thinner with Samsung screens then htc would be playing with the big boys. The metallic finishes are stunning but I kept worrying about scratches and dents plus after a few weeks dust started to accumulate around the edges of the screen which made me go OCD lol. just turn the tap on gently and swill the s7 edge, a quick rub and were all shiny and new again sweet.

26 Feb 17#251
honestly I was the same regarding phone size. after going back and forth from mainly Apple to Samsung as let's face it both operating systems are good at what they do so im no Apple or Samsung fanboy lol. I bought a s7 which in fairness is a great phone when I picked it up locally the couple I bought it from both had s7 edges and straight away I thought I'd possibly made a mistake looking at envy at the screen clarity sleekness and build quality. then as soon as I got a s7 edge in my hands everything about the phone is quality. I quickly sold the s7 which retained its value nicely  and bought the edge and now i don't think I would ever go smaller on a phone, saying that I wouldn't go larger either. I would say the only very minor let down on the phone are the speakers they are not as good as the HTC m10 but then again come on we don't buy these things to be our main music players, if you like your music then just hook upto a decent Bluetooth speaker or headphones and away you go  btw another point no disrespect to the moto phone which btw I think are doing a great job it just won't hold onto it's value as well as the Samsung so if your like me and change your phone every 3 to 6 months buy something which doesn't make a big loss. hope this helps  you m8.

Just wow, all points very well put together and compares with my experience of the LG G2.
I agree with all your points above and in addition, for me, it was the additional internal memory and expandable memory, better camera back and front that helped me decide.

Expert reports say that the MOTO G4 is as good as this, at half the price ...... ??
Didn't read the whole thread, but it looks like you didn't enforce your consumer rights with CPW. Once you approach the manufacturer directly, the retailer will usually step back & avoid their responsibilities. Anyway, we can go on about this here, but it's off topic in a deal's thread so let's not discuss it further.
I'm not worried about the actual size of the phone as I have a Note 4 for work so I'm not worried about even going slightly bigger than that, but it's just a total waste of space having massive bezels on a phone (you could probably squeeze a 6" screen into the same size phone us this without the massive bezels).

Oh man, just went in store and had a play with the Moto Z. Must say, its the best looking flagship out there by far. It looks absolutely jaw dropping. The camera hump at the back hardly matters. It looks stunning in black than in White coz it hides the sensors.
Superfast, no bloatware unlike Samsung. All in all, such a beautiful phone.
The only problem is the less capacity battery and being non replaceable, i can see where it will be after a year of lots of charging.
Also, for some reason, the processor in the UK version is less powerful than the US one. Its 1.8 compared to ~2.2 in the US model. I dont understand why manufacturers do that :disappointed:

Most cars have dual functionality. My Mondeo does both CarPlay and Android Auto. I think that's the case for most car manufacturers.
welshblob
26 Feb 17#208
TBH isn't the adoption of Apple Carplay and Android Auto going to take time to permeate down from being supported in relatively new cars. This will take a few years until it reaches wider adoption and starts hitting the 2nd hand market? This maybe why I get the impression that interest in these have cooled given the contrast with the frantic pace the mobile industry typically works at. Whilst we're on this subject given the original mandatory wired connection for Android Auto (not sure if that's still the case) then the Moto Mods could come in handy with the car dock and charger which supports data as well (which I don't think it does currently).
So question I was bouncing around the other day, if a car only supported Carplay or Auto and you happened to be in the other camp, then would that stop you from buying it? I got the impression that more recently some manufacturers where hedging their bets and trying to support both to avoid this.

MWC will make a difference as various manufacturers will be announcing their latest 2017 models which obviously will impact sales of their current ones as buyers will delay the purchase if the next gen can be had for the same price in the next month or two. Hence the current models will tend to be discounted just before/around the next gen is announced.
I've decided to jump in and buy one, upgrading from my trusty Nexus 5, although may not open it initially to see it any other offers pop up in the next week or so and take advantage of the 35 day return policy.

* It supports andriod pay

You can charge it with any charger, however to get it to fast charge it must pump out 3+ amps, QC2 and 3 chargers will not do this at 5v so you need USB-C specific chargers. But any charger will work with a USB - USB C cable.

Bought this from Amazon a short while back for £450 with the battery mod and it's an amazing phone, VR with it is amazing!! Battery without the mod is fine I can get a day of med use, with the mod a day of very heavy use (I gamed/watched movies for 4hrs straight yesterday and still had 50% of main battery left)!
The mods are cool, slap it on and it recognises it straight away, it's USB C so your current fast chargers won't work, you'll need 3a or higher USB C chargers to gain fast charging away from the main charger, as for earphones I use BT ones anyway so a non-issue for me.

I've never known or seen anyone use this feature - even my most die-hard Samsung-user friends with their Qi car docks don't use it. So yes, I would say it is a niche feature. I don't even know anyone who uses Apple CarPlay, and manufacturers and car salesmen actually promote that.
Just for reference, I don't live in a little village called Greendale.

Is this mod available to buy right now in the UK?
Too bad the battery sucks and for goodness sake just because apple went away with 3.5mm doesn't mean everone else has to. My other complaint would be the fingerprint reader that isnt a button. it just takes up a bunch of space when the phone is unlocked, which I would say is even more of a problem on a 5.5" phone. Still pretty much unbeatable value right now though.
This is a UK phone sold by John Lewis with 2 year warranty not some Chinese grey import sold by some Chinese company like Gearbest without warranty and not meant for UK and trying to dodge customs by posting as a gift from your friends in China marked much below the price to evade tax . So has all UK bands. If the 2600 mah battery life was not poor as pointed out in the reviews, it would have been a very good phone.

I can't find a grade A1 refurbished Samsung S7 edge, from a reputable seller with stock, with a warranty, for less than £430 and they're mostly around £500 or more. You can get grade C refurbs for around £350.

Got this phone from amazon (with 60 quid power bank) for 450 a few weeks ago when my Xperia Z1 died... Gutted it's come down so much.
I found it strange that this phone is not available through any network as IMO it's the best flagship currently available.
Battery life is fine and it charges really quickly. I'm using it all the time and get a day no problem, even with an hour or so of rollercoaster tycoon :-D Also snap on battery pack is really nice experience compared to the USB one I used to use.
Phone thickness is really nice, makes one handed use much nicer.
Screen is great as I found the Z1 a little small.
Seems to get updates. Notification volume issue is sorted. Software seems very solid.
Phone is very speedy, doesn't get too hot.
Camera good enough.
Micro SD slot is a bonus.
Was concerned about ditching the headphone jack but thought about the dozen or so times I used it in the last year... Car, kitchen radio and soundbar are bluetooth.
Comes with a plastic bumper in the box (which I do not use) as well as the nylon 'style mod' snap on back cover which has a nice feel compared to the usual plastic/metal/glass backs.

Currently using a Sony z3 compact, and getting a bit bored by it and fancy something new, but really not sure if I could live with the size of this. I hear you get used to a big phone very quickly, but I really not sure I would. With so few options for smaller phones nowadays that don't compromise on build or spec, I'm a bit limited as to what to go for.
Think I need to stop, watching YouTube vids on this phone, as I'm constantly talking myself in and out of getting it. I did try a oneplus 3 which also felt big, which is about the same form factor as this I guess, but I suppose anything compared to a z3c would feel big?

if your looking for "bang for buck" as you say buy a refurb or lightly used s7 edge at approx £350. granted it will be used but Samsung has 2 year warranty.
I've had every phone under the sun I normally buy then change after 2 to 3 months as I get bored, iPhone 5, 6 and 7, HTC m9 and m10, Samsung s5, s6, s7 and s7 edge, you get the picture.
The s7 edge is the only phone I've had for 6 months and counting. unbelievable screen, brilliant battery, brilliant camera, superb build waterproof, sd slot etc etc, just a fantastic phone worth 600 at 350 now that prices have lowered to accomadate s8 launch def worth it.
I've also used my son's moto g4 which was great for price and then his new Samsung a3 2016 which is again very smart for the price for all the world a iPhone 6 build with glass in android form. As budget phones go i believe if you need something just to phone little gaming, facebook etc then just go for a budget phone as above from 100 to 175 max if your spending 300 plus then go with a s7 edge and you won't be disappointed

Good phone, had it in past but as people have said here battery life is poor and feels a bit too thin and not as comfortable to hold. Had mine with the battery mod which gives great battery life but makes it a little too thick.
Camera was ok, finger print and software was blistering fast, but the main issue I had with mine was the notification sound, which was way too low and kept missing them. Maybe Nougat update has sorted that out. Great price though

I think it comes with a Magnetic Moto Style Shield in the box, which will protect the back of the phone (and make it a bit more comfortable to hold), but will leave the sides and screen vulnerable.
I don't think I personally want a flip case for this phone as it has an "active display" that shows notifications when you swipe your hand above the phone. This feature will not work with a closed flip case.
Almost all the bumper cases I've looked at do not fit when using either Style Shields or Moto Mods.
Unless anyone can recommend anything better or advise against it, I think I'm going to get one of these Incipio MT/384 Bumpers that just protects the sides and allows full use of Style Shields and Moto Mods, along with a hardened glass screen protector.

For many years I used to be a hardcore Phone Freak back in the day! (I'm talking about pre-You Tube Phone Reviews and the like?, eg. 10+ years and counting ... )
And with my eyes closed I could reel off better Phone Tech speech to rival even the best of them at all the major Mobile Phone Shops and Networks going.
But that was yesterday New's, and of late, today's News is a whole DIFFERENT ballgame to that of these Phones' MO from what I remember?.
Eg. Nokia 3310 and Nokia 3330, what was the difference?, NOTHING! (other than a different colour 'face').
And Nokia 3310i and Nokia 3330i were Network Orange's version of the exact same Phone's too! (mechanically inside, there was no difference, other than the 'Band Code' it was Locked too).
Nokia 6310 and Nokia 6320i, what was the difference here too?, not much again! (other than slight cosmetic changes to the body, 1 had a 640 pixel camera, and the other a fat 1 megabyte camera instead).
SonyEricsson P900 and SonyEricsson P910, what was the difference also?, this 'turning-point' was where 'stuffs' started getting interesting (other than the semi-transparent/translucent plastic body of one, and the almost more solid/rugged wooden body of the other, one had only a 640 pixel camera, whereas the other introduced a megapixel camera to it).
And ..... the 'list' is endless! (but at the time (for me anyway), it was an easy one.
It's NOT the same World we're living in?, it's not the same story .....
Even with You Tube's help, thing's aren't necessarily guaranteed straightforward?, there's too many smaller insignificant niggles' involved .. as my above Phone example's show (that even the said 'reviewer' may/might also end up dropping the ball on, etc?).
Like I said already, the Game is wayyy different now ...
That's my 2 Cents worth.

The Moto Z is the higher specification and thinner device.
The Moto Z Play is a thicker, bigger battery, slightly lower specification,
That makes perfect sense, the 3.5mm headphone socket has to have some outter ring to hold the plug so would be at least 1mm and probably more like 2 or even 3mm - so how to add a 6mm socket to a 5mm phone?
I suppose it could have a bulge in the bottom corner where the socket would be but that would look stupid!

To be fair the times of a £280 flagship killer like the oneplus one is gone (im still using mine now) brexit and all. Needless to say the oneplus 3 which was released same time as this is going for £400 compared to this at £300 not to mention 2 years returnable within days at John Lewis as opposed to sending back to China. I would say an excellent deal for hassle free and bang for buck.

25 Feb 17#63
Not sure why this is so hot. Awful battery, 500mAh lower than my almost 3 years old OnePlus One which was cheaper. Also no headphone jack isn't a practice anyone should be supporting.
I just wish there was a Moto phone with the battery of the Z Play with the camera of the Z. It would probably be wise to wait until Monday as Moto and other companies are announcing new phones over the weekend at MWC, which is probably the reason for the price drop.
dasilva
25 Feb 17#62
Because the inside of a headphone jack is 3.5mm and the phone is only 5mm thick. If you want a headphone jack you need a thicker phone or bluetooth headphones and a thinner phone

Providing your an average to high end user and get the battery mod this is a bargain, almost flagship killer considering the price. Also Lenovo confirmed 12 new mods in 2017 and with support of a minimum of 3 years for mods unlike LG which is ditching it this year. So you know your mods are good for that period by which point the phone will be ageing anyway.

lmao I was just about to buy it and read that there's no headphone jack...now, not buying it. Why do manufacturers do this?
Ajazb
25 Feb 17#57
I have said it before . More research you do more mind boggling it gets. Cheap androids from China will have better specifications for same price but more or less lower quality . Sometimes high end old phones come down in price and are sold at bargain prices .

25 Feb 17#56
Good spot, ordered one! Charging is fast, add a battery mod and you're all set. Incipio also offer a QI compatible battery mod which will charge wirelessly and more mods on their way this year. No issues with not having a headphone jack, used to it now on the iPhone 7 Plus - Bose QC35's are a great choice.

25 Feb 17#54
The main differences between this and the play is the play has a lower grade DPI screen, is thicker, has a headphone jack, bigger battery and a lower spec processor. Reviews seem to really rate the battery life with some getting 2 days. It's currently available for 330 from Amazon.
I'm tempted by this deal but put off by the lower cap battery which granted can be resolved by buying the mod for about £60 which then bumps the price and also makes finding a case tricky according to the reviews I've read.

25 Feb 17#52
Just letting people know if you are charging the device then you can't use the USB port to charge and listen which is needed as the battery life is poor. This can be a issue for a lot of people who actually use the phone for a media device and use it with headphones. Also I don't see the point in getting rid of the headphones jack. People were saying giving apple a hard time for doing it either way I don't understand why they need to take it out. I rather have something that is thicker and larger battery and a headphone jack than something thin without one and a smaller power pack. I think the z play is overall a better for me on this regard but each to there own.
rucer07
25 Feb 17#51
Quite poor battery life
BATTERY: Non-removable Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery
The performance numbers are in line with other top flagships of the year. And while battery life may not be where it should for 2016, it makes it up for with Moto Enhancements and Moto Mods, expanding a smartphone's abilities beyond the outer shell. The Moto Z does this with a thin and stylish, yet reserved looking device. There is no doubt that the Moto Z will carry Motorola's legacy in the hands of Lenovo.
Cons
Below-average battery life
No USB transfer cable included (charger and its cable are one piece)
No standard 3.5mm audio jack (an adapter from USB Type C is provided)
Moto Mods aren't cheap
Yep I've studied it further like you say there are three subtly different versions. Seems like a decent phone. Phone selection used to be easy, but now the ranges are so confusing.

This is the Moto Z, as you rightly point out there are also the Moto Z Play and the Moto Z Force (not yet sold in the UK by Motorola it would appear) models, essentially 3 ranges to choose from and each range may have variations such as memory size. I don't think it's as nearly complex as you initially thought.

* It supports andriod pay

IMO although a large lower bezel is less pocket-able and one-hand friendly, it's not all bad, as it's much easier to wake the phone when it's lying face up on the desk. Scanners on the back are less convenient once you've put the phone down.
Thanks for trick to turn the icons small
I have changed dpi to 500 in developer settings
Seems a bit quiet in here given my experience of previous threads.
Other than that was impressed with the phone and the jbl speaker mod purchased with it.
Before anyone mentions Chromecast, you can't directly connect and stream to Chromecast without an external WiFi network (that includes guest mode).
now I'm thinking how can I get rid of my new lg g5 just bought 35 days ago from argos as their return policy is for 28 days I think.
I haven't damaged it, and paid via Paypal credit.
I emailed them today after seeing that they have it in stock for 499 so they should post my item which I paid for.
I revieved an email tonight saying this is your product guarantee for your phone etc which is also very confusing too.
jl had the best customer service but I think its not like that anymore.
I currently have BubbleUPnP installed, which may work for you too, but I don't have much need for it anymore. Smart media boxes, tvs and Chromecast enabled apps mean I seldom use it anymore.
Will only connect to Chromecast (and that's a little flaky too).
So, no more wireless projection to smart TV's and any Microsoft products.
Gutted!!
3rd update sorts system volume issue.
4th update (139.2MB) notification volume update and other boring stuff...
Phone is guestimating I have 2 hours of battery left at current usage! Think (hope) it's confused due to all the updates.
First impressions are good. Optional back cover a little slippy and bumper ugly but give good protection. I'll get something nicer later.
She's a little bit gutted that I get to play first!
this is really annoying because moto mods that im interested in are finally coming and i missed out on this great deal, used ones are still going for £350 on ebay for comparisons sake btw
http://www.three.co.uk/lenovo/p2/plans?memory=32&colour=Grey&plans=monthly
It's unlocked but you'll have to pay for £10 PAYG credit unless you already have a 3 contract.
Thanx for that. :-)
- game pad
The only thing letting this phone down is the lack of HDMI.
or if you don't care about warranty and are super brave the root, install a custom recovery and custom Rom and Walla your on super turbo hehe.
If you don't care about warranty and are super brave then root, install a custom recovery and custom rom and Walla your on super turbo hehe.
I agree with all your points above and in addition, for me, it was the additional internal memory and expandable memory, better camera back and front that helped me decide.
I hope they better the price for the projector and I am keen on getting one. I don't care so much about the battery pack as I am quite used to carrying a small battery pack on me to keep my LG G2 chugging along.

Until a year ago, I was not into large phones either, but ever since I've had my 5.2" phone, I've been converted & wouldn't mind going even larger - up to 6" even.
Still hot from me for people that are not so fussy as me.

So question I was bouncing around the other day, if a car only supported Carplay or Auto and you happened to be in the other camp, then would that stop you from buying it? I got the impression that more recently some manufacturers where hedging their bets and trying to support both to avoid this.
I've decided to jump in and buy one, upgrading from my trusty Nexus 5, although may not open it initially to see it any other offers pop up in the next week or so and take advantage of the 35 day return policy.

But I know someone that does ...
But, fair enough?.
I read about this in 1 Paper at the back end of last Month/January 2017 sometime? (Mirror Newspaper, Mail, or something?, can't remember now).
It's a shame really, but, what the hay, huh ...
Horses for courses.
The mods are cool, slap it on and it recognises it straight away, it's USB C so your current fast chargers won't work, you'll need 3a or higher USB C chargers to gain fast charging away from the main charger, as for earphones I use BT ones anyway so a non-issue for me.
Just for reference, I don't live in a little village called Greendale.
https://www.android.com/intl/en_uk/auto/
If amazon price matches in the next few days perhaps I could be refunded the difference but unlikely as I got the 'free powebank' promotion.
I'll just have to live with 90 quid difference being the price of needing a phone a few weeks before MWC
Edit: this seems to have changed to 35 days now.
If you've changed your mind about your purchase, please return it in its original condition with proof of purchase within 35 days of receiving your order (90 days if purchased before 1 February 2017) and we'll exchange or refund it. If you return your order to a John Lewis shop we'll process your refund immediately.

IMO The S7 has spectacular hardware ruined by Samsung's touchwiz software. It's a shame they no longer make stock android Google Play editions like they did with the S4 and S5.
https://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-mods/incipio-vehicle-dock
When one is sold that cheap on eBay, there is almost always more to the story. It should still be good as a camera and calculator though
Apart from the abysmal battery life and eye-watering price I paid for the 128GB version, it was an absolutely legendary phone.
Thanks I think, I think you have just talked me out of buying this :smirk:
Currently using a Sony z3 compact, and getting a bit bored by it and fancy something new, but really not sure if I could live with the size of this. I hear you get used to a big phone very quickly, but I really not sure I would. With so few options for smaller phones nowadays that don't compromise on build or spec, I'm a bit limited as to what to go for.
Think I need to stop, watching YouTube vids on this phone, as I'm constantly talking myself in and out of getting it. I did try a oneplus 3 which also felt big, which is about the same form factor as this I guess, but I suppose anything compared to a z3c would feel big?
thanks.
Camera was ok, finger print and software was blistering fast, but the main issue I had with mine was the notification sound, which was way too low and kept missing them. Maybe Nougat update has sorted that out. Great price though
Hope this helps.
New phone, very little cost, and 2 years warranty. Winner.
Not good, huh? :disappointed: dwl. :stuck_out_tongue:
Also, having looked over at XDA, custom rom/kernel support for this device is pretty poor.
IF such could knock off say £50 odd off of it?, then .....
Let's just say, I'm more likely to be then in, hehehehehw. ;-)
No comment. :-)
This fell seems to have fallen under the radar with all the other flagship phones about, as I was not aware of it.
After reading the review, its main downfalls for me is the battery size and the lack of phone jack. :disappointed:
Though for me, I'm not buying one, lol. :-)
Just personal opinion ...
which color do i go for? black or white??? which one is more of a fingerprint magnet
Can anyone recommend a good case for this?
The Moto Z Play is a thicker, bigger battery, slightly lower specification,
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/138812-motorola-moto-z-vs-moto-z-play-what-s-the-difference
I suppose it could have a bulge in the bottom corner where the socket would be but that would look stupid!

Sounds scorching for the price though and quite unbelievable
I just wish there was a Moto phone with the battery of the Z Play with the camera of the Z. It would probably be wise to wait until Monday as Moto and other companies are announcing new phones over the weekend at MWC, which is probably the reason for the price drop.
(*please take this comment in the fun way that it was intended)
I'm tempted by this deal but put off by the lower cap battery which granted can be resolved by buying the mod for about £60 which then bumps the price and also makes finding a case tricky according to the reviews I've read.

I'm confused as to which model this is and what is the differences?
Seems like a really good deal so hot from me.
Looks great! Ordered :sunglasses:
You know we're weak:-)
DRAW!
Was undecided about a new phone. Compared this to a one plus 3, Axon 7 and Pixel.
Compares favourably to all 3 so ordered.
why isn't this 499 as they were a week ago in store? is that a bigger memory size?
I played with their mods in JL ... really impressed how easy it was to put them on & take them off.
walkie-talkie-mod:smiley:
