Why would you need to put your utensil jar in the oven?

Because you can use it as cookware as well, it's made from exactly the same thing as their oven dishes, ramekins, pie trays, soup bowls etc. Whilst this utensil jar isn't really the most practical shape to use for heating or freezing something in, they are just letting you know that it is actually possible to do so if you wished.
