I have both an Arduino and a Pi so paid the $15. Lots of ideas. Looking forward to setting some time aside to have a play.

hmm prob worth a look for a $. Like to tinker, though still a noob, with the pi/arduino/esp8266. Not sure if books will be any good though, compared to the mounds of info available on the net

I like the structure of books over the pick and choose stuff on the net. saying that there is a ton of stuff out there... home automation , robotics, open sensors and I've even started using scratch with my son to control motor.
