It says £10.99 on the page but if you go through to check out it should be listed as £8.99. Great for use on PC emulators or if you want to play SSB on Wii u with a GC controller.

Argos trying to offload this without Amazon price matching I suspect.,have noticed a few other items Argos have done this with where the real price doesnt show up untill you click on the item itself.

i have a 3rd party one but fancied the official one too.. so no big loss i guess

You need to hack the Wii U's Virtual Wii. After that you can play your GameCube games from the SD card or USB hard drive using the GameCube controllers.
The Wii U doesn't natively support GameCube games out the box, however all my library appears to work fine with Nintendont once you have the Homebrew Channel up and running.

Not sure what you're actually saying there but having vWii homebrew installed doesn't affect Wii U or Wii U online play at all - not sure about Wii U homebrew.
