the difference is in my specific case is that I use lots of different computers including my own at home for documents and also gaming. in my case it would drive me crazy even if there are very few keys that are different.
it may not be a bother for others. I only speak for myself as I bought a us keyboard without checking once .... only did that mistake once!

Even with the US keyboard, it really is worth considering for a cheap keyboard. I mean, I was a firm believer in the UK-only keyboard layout for years, but eventually I moved to a specific mechanical one which I could only find with a US layout. I bought a backup, this, which I gave to a friend because I didn't use it.
This doesn't feel rubber dome so that itself is a huge bonus. I'm often at the mech keyboards subreddit so I'm accustomed to the layout by now (you'd have to be), and if you remember Alt+0163 for your £, and you have your numpad, you're doing fine. Everything else is representative. I think the biggest nuisance with US layout is if you're docking/undocking a laptop with a different region keyboard or often using RDP to many different machines.

Once you’ve used a keyboard that is both illuminated and backlit, you’ll never want go back to one that isn’t . The US layout however, is a nuisance.

There's no such thing as a universal layout. The shapes of keys are different between US and UK and it means you cannot just change what is printed on the keys.
What they probably mean is that the 2,3,4 keys have speech marks, pounds and euros on them.
US key layout has a large left shift moves the backslash/pipe key to above the (flat single row) return key. As a coder these differences can be frustrating, especially if you have one layout at work and a different one at home.

There isn't a major difference between US and UK, but what there is really is a dealbreaker for me. I shouldn't be annoyed when typing, ever.

I have had one of these for over a year and they are great quality only down point is the spikey design on mine was alittle sharp when i got it and had to file it down alittle (I know random)
