My issue is that for years Poundland advertised that every item was a pound,then they started selling higher priced items from behind the tills,but now they are making their way amongst the pound items.Most people are not so stupid to think that a 55 inch TV is going to cost £1,but when they put (for example) a box of Maltesers worth £2 amounts £1 items,a good number of people could be mistaken to think it's a £1 item as it's not massively cheap.

They should just have a section for everything over £1 to stop confusion,so shoppers can just grab an item without having to check that it may cost more.

Poundland are starting to get well sly with their pricing.In my local store they put items worth £2 amongst items worth £1 on the shelves on the way to the tills,so people at a quick glance presume all the items are £1,yet they end up picking up a £2 item and only find out at the till.

​I bought a couple of perfumes from them @ £8 and £10 at Christmas time . They were £15 or more in Argos and Superdrug that time and even more expensive in Boots . Not everything can be £1. I only regret the big stores where the markup can be more than 1000 % or more for the same item . In London there are Poundworld and Sam's 99p stores as well which sell £1 items. So if Poundland does not stock £1 items anymore, I can always go to their competitors and buy from them. Also Poundland has nearly doubled shops now in London after it bought 99p stores.

pound land I have heard is to change its name to deals. not sure if this will happen but it's false advertising to call it pound land when they sell stuff dearer.

I doubt if money was no object they'd be in poundland, and credit to the OP as this is a good price for the fryer, but poundland are getting sneaky with their £2 items next to £1 items. Trading standards made them drop the "everything's a pound" strapline a while back.

I have no brand loyalty. There is Poundstretcher store chain has very good bargains but not a pound store. As long as they have good bargains is all that matters. You should ask yourself, whenever you buy anything, do you want keep your money in your pocket or pass it on to the shareholders of the company who may not even be UK citizens or companies. Once Warren Buffet, one of the richest man in the world, held shares in Poundland. People should use logic instead of building up emotional attachment to brand names which most companies use to rob us.

I've no idea of the quality of their auto vehicles (if it is indeed the same company), but Daewoo household electronics are not the best from hard-learnt personal experience.

​Who cares about the name? I only care about the price, and quality and country of manufacture of the product or service, guarantee and peace of mind. Most times the big companies cheat us by selling same product at higher prices than in other countries. Being British should not mean keeping calm and paying more for everything in life plus the high VAT other and taxes charged by the government .
