How is this cold just because you need something different to what is on offer? Odd.

If it was made of metal, he'd be wanting it made from granite and still voting it cold. There's no pleasing some people.

but why vote cold? It's not a bad deal because it's not what you need. It's like voting a pizza deal cold cause you're gluten intolerant! Good effort on the homebrew though!!
What do they work on? I tried them and nothing happened...

This won't melt with boiling water on it, not even 100 degree boiling water, but if you're concerned just pop a towel on it first or something. it'll take the weight easily too; i weigh over twice as much as that water you need to put on it, and have stood on it a few times when i've been tiling.

I have one of these (I think I also paid around £40 around a year ago). It's a great table for what it is - having been through both cheap workmates and mid-range workmates, I've been severely disappointed in the quality of them these days (and they are certainly not built to the same standard as my father's 20+ year old one!).
Although this is plastic, it's certainly a lot more stable than the cheaper workmates in my experience, and I've used sliding compound mitre saws and routers on this with no problem.

I bought one from B&Q a couple of weeks ago (Dundee) - the price tag said it was 40, reduced from 59. The checkout said it was 59. In the end, the woman gave me it for 40 and sent someone to change the pricetag. It does however suggest that B and Q planned to reduce the price but hadn't updated their systems.

No one is questioning your requirement. The issue is you voted cold because this product is something other than what you want. For what your want, ordinary metal won't even cut it. You need a stainless steel work surface. Forty quid probably won't get you one of those.

I need something that can hold 35L of 100 degree boiling water for upto 1 hour when I make batches of home brew. It need to be metal (or even granite !) otherwise it would melt.

I've got one of these, the table itself is good quality but the clamps let it down. They don't last long

6 Feb 171#9
Whilst it does fold down it's certainly not "flat", it's probably about six or eight inches thick. That said it's a lot easier to store and move than a B&D Work Mate and the quick release clamps are great (though difficult to store back in the table).

At little less than four and a half inches!
Pretty flat really!!

I take it your using the blokes definition of 6 to 8 inches? More like 4 inches in reality lol

6 Feb 172#17
you're confusing flat for thin. it's not thin, but it is flat. to get the clamps stored away i found if i shifted the further grip a few mm out, then gave the trigger a little squeeze it makes it a lot easier to get them in.
