my in car charger stopped working within 10 seconds. i got the desktop charger too, it pretty compact and mine isn't making a buzzing sound, but my ipad air struggled to charge of it and took a long time - but it might be my poundland cable.

It's worth testing the charging speed against your current charger - for example I bought a different "high-speed" USB charger with supposedly up to 2.4A output but with an iPair Air I found it only charged at half the speed of my Apple 12W (2.4A) charger so only around 1.2A with a single port.

I wish car manufacturers would design a new power outlet. The ancient old design was for cigarette lighters and not really suited to power applications. The connection is so flaky as well I'm surprised quite a few devices have not caught fire.

A USB tester is a worthwhile investment for a couple of quid. I thought all cables were the same until I got one. Sorted out the slow cables for me. Btw generally the longer the slower. Who knew! Not me
