Evidently he isn't a tradesman, having purchased a drill (and possibly bits) made for DIY use, aimed at the DIY market. That would likely explain why most DIYers using DIY grade tools at DIY prices might not be trying to drill through quartz concrete.
Whilst I personally use Bosch Blue, and would rather pay a little extra for a basic corded SDS over this drill, for a lot of people who will only be putting in a few wall plugs every now and again, this drill at this price makes sense.
Another person might think that a product that you have is rubbish, because they saw value in paying a little extra for a better model. However, that product may present great value for you in light of the use it may get and benefit you may receive from it.

Yes I agree. I was hoping mine would fail after 5 years of use so I could buy something decent but the bloody thing is just won't die.

I doubt there's any serious tradesmen eyeing up a thirty quid drill. I'd even be a bit miffed if I paid someone to do a job and he turned up with a few bargain tools from B&Q aimed at the DIYer market.

Does this work with the Bosch X-line 34 piece item that comes in the offer?
When I add that item the voucher discount seems to be removed.

Good price. I paid 30 for just the drill last year.

I checked click and collect and it says collect from Sunday, yet it says the B&Q (Cribbs Causeway, Bristol) has it in stock. Why do I have to wait til Sunday. Stupid. Fancy just going there tomorrow and getting it, pretty sure that'll be fine.
That's all I need a drill for... And I'm new to DIY jobs like this.

Another bull deal.. codes don't work. £34.99 for a crap drill and budget drill bits are £34 over priced

Best of luck with that, mine has been going for at least 15 years now. Corded drills just don't die.

Could you read through my sarcasm. I got one of these in about 2000 and thought that keyless chuck system isn't going to last long. It did. I did manage to ruin it though by using a 40mm core drill. I think it sucked in too much dust and damaged the switch. It still worked but the variable speed didn't. I replaced it with a similar model bought from B & Q for about the same as this deal. They are good value for the money so long as you don't use core drills with them. Fine for standard masonry holes. I now have an SDS drill for the harder tasks.

You're clearly not a tradesman then.. try going through quarts concrete or even a concrete plinth with that drill and those drill bits. Your sarcasm just makes you sound like a tit

Also got one, around 8 years old, also worked great til I tried to drill 2 1/4" holes through concrete blocks. TBH it still works OK, just doesn't feel responsive in speed changing.

It's probably ok for plaster and brick, but doubt it would touch a concrete lintel if you have to fit blinds or a curtain rail.

As do your posts. Why shouldn't I buy this drill to replace a 20 year old Black and Decker one that cost me £15 in a sale back then, was roughly the same as this, and has done everything I have used it for without any problems? Which drill would you suggest for me, which tends to get used for putting mirrors and shelves up and stuff like that?

what is quarts concrete?
Tyranicus66
18 Feb 172#36
He means Quartz, evidently whilst acquiring his uber trade skills he skipped any basic education.
Quartz = a very hard mineral found in all kinds of tough rock (e.g Granite)
Quarts = a unit of liquid capacity equal to a quarter of a gallon or two pints.
And this drill will be fine for regular concrete. If you were drilling 40Nm+ concrete you would tool up appropriately. I have a suspicion that Bosch may have a good idea of the market in which they dominate..

I'll go by product numbers so I don't confuse anyone
discont code "CLUB7TZHM" which is Club Offer £5 off WYS £30 works only on product # 3165140596367 alone (it will not work when you add product # 3165140563147) unless you call to make the order according to post #18 ...?
so you can get the product # 3165140596367 for £30 that is without product # 3165140563147. that is Click & Collect. Home delivery is £5 on top!
p.s has anyone noticed B&Q has mistakenly put a picture of Product # 3165140633918 on Product # 3165140596367

He's probably a "creter" as the americans call them. They are the ones who are not clever enough in the building trade to be an electrician, plumber, bricky, joiner etc etc and are used to mix the concrete. I think his alter ego is called "back".
It's obvious which market Bosch are marketing the drill for and that is the DIYer for the odd masonry job and for some people who cannot afford the luxury of two battery drills there are lots of times when to have one drill set up for drilling and the other set up as a screwdriver saves loads of time. Sometimes cheaper products are worth a go and I can tell you that all of the joiners in our workshop have Makita and Dewalt tools and the failure rate of Makita is a bit high to be honest to a point we will not be buying any more Makita sanders. Had a few battery drills fail too.

Got it today from B&Q Southampton (Nursling). They got lots in stock, clearly advertised in the main entrance. Its a bargain, Argos is selling the Bosch PSB 650W for £59.99. I've just installed blinds in an aluminium frame and it worked ok. It's the perfect drill for home and easy tasks.

you have to bear in mind that it is £30 and yes you do get what you pay for but if you are like me and carfull and prep before you drill, use decent bits and just take care then it will last 10 years of DIY and if you wipe it down and keep it dry instead of chucking it in the celler or she it will last :-)

Just wanna update to say I bought this drill and it was perfect for the job above (drilling holes for wall plugs/screws to hang a largish mirror, around 15KG).
Good purchase for me. For drilling walls for pictures, wall-mounting speakers, wallmounting a tv... I'd recommend.
