If you only need calls and texts, why are you even buying a smart phone??
Buy a Nokia brick, it'll last 3 weeks between charges without use, and a week with!

This is one of the phones (OS's) that WhatsApp just ended support for last month. The specs are decent - 16GB storage and 2GB RAM for £40 would be a nice deal if it were an Android phone. But the OS really makes it difficult going forwards.

Whatsapp support has been extended until June, 2017. So you can use Whatsapp until then. After then, it's possible to download an old APK and install an older version of whatsapp, seeing as BB10 can run android apps that run on android 4 or lower (jellybean).
That being said - many apps require Google Play Services or are slowly in the process of being updated to android 5. I think you'll get another 6-12 months out of BB10 and then it'll be dead. If you don't care for apps and want a phone for calling and texting, they're great. Blackberry released a patch for BB10 recently and are expected to release at least one more. So i'm voting hot.

Agreed. Hardware is fine for the price. Screen, camera, RAM etc can't be beaten. But the OS kills this.

The OS is the best thing about this phone. It's the lack of apps that kill it. BSOS10 is still the best multitasking mobile operating system around. It's a pleasure to use unlike smeggy Android (that I'm using on my DTEK60 right now).

You can install an android 3rd party App Store. I can't remember the app name, something like onemobilemarket, but it installs all android apps.
