What's with it this type of asus card is always cheap weather amd or nivida heat from me

it seems, these card has quality control issues. A lot of them breaks within first few months

I would hold off till tomorrow at least see what NVIDIA announces at GDC they have announcement at 3AM (1st).
If they release ti version of the 1080 prices will drop.

this or a used 970 for £179.. man... hard to justify over £300 for a graphics card, I actually think I'd prefer just to play on my ps4 pro that I got for 279.....

If you can find a GTX 970 for around £140-150 I'd say its worth buying, otherwise you can find 4GB RX480's for only £30 or so more.

Yes indeed. I have a hd7950 but as I said, i play on ps4 pro now and have done for the past year or so. Just hard to justify £339 for a graphics card, I know the ps4 pro is a similar price, but they do different jobs, i'm well content with the graphics quality of the ps4 pro and don't need something "better" also, psvr is comparable to hive/rift no? Having already got a ps4 pro, it's not as much outlay.... I've voted hot btw as it's a good deal for this card. Just sounding out pros and cons.

Incidentally, I had a go of a rift on demo the other day - basketball game. I was super impressed with the immersiveness, you really really feel like you are there, it's so cool, I forgot I was in a public shop I was just shooting hoops. It is really very good. The bad point though....

graphics quality - I know some of you might wonder what the heck i'm on about, but seeing as the system has to push so many frames steadily, the quality suffers, it's not bad, but I know there is much room for improvement when cards get even faster. Being "there" really does mean you see all the textures and imperfections, it's not reality yet.

I liked it though, I really did. I hope it doesn't become a fad like 3d TV was, and some decent titles are produced for it. I'd like to see a free vr version with any game you get, I'm not sure how hard that is however.

I would say that a used 970 would have to be down around the £120 mark (maybe even less...) to warrant buying over a £155 4GB RX 480, which (I haven't looked, so this really is just a guess) I guess they aren't regularly selling for yet. As much as I enjoyed my 970, I think it's a card which, as a purchasing prospect, has pretty much had its day. Obviously it's still a decent mid-range 1080p card if you already own one, but that's a whole different matter.

Don't forget, if you haven't topped up your Amazon.co.uk balance before, you get £5 for topping up £100 (nearly instantly), so you can get a further £5 off that way.

This card has a couple of features which may benefit some users. Firstly, it's a shorter-length card - not a mini or micro or whatever for ITX, but just a full-size card without being absolutely mental (~25cm versus the ~29-30cm of seemingly most 1070 cards).

Secondly, it has two HDMI outputs (a recurring theme on Asus cards), while the vast, vast majority of 1070s have one. It still has DVI. Most 1070 cards have three DisplayPort outputs and one HDMI - this card has two DP and two HDMI.

However, it is Asus, who are not famous for their customer care. But with the three-year warranty, your first port of call will most likely be Amazon.co.uk anyway, and they're brill.

Ordered this at the £339 price. It also had the promotion of coming with For Honor or Ghost which currently fetches £30 on ebay. So its closer to £315 for a 1070. Doubt there'll be anything near that price for a while yet.

I'm not sure how well those are selling on eBay, as the Nvidia games are locked to cards now - one can't redeem them without a 1070 or 1080 installed in their system. It's probably still possible to sell them, but it's certainly less straightforward than before.

Agree with you about the 1070 prices, though - I can't see them dropping below £300* for the foreseeable future, even with the new slightly-faster-memory-as-suggested-by-Nvidia models coming.

*Assuming the pound doesn't suddenly recover.
