Came across this on amazon, thought it seemed like a good deal as you get a free £10 gift card.
No Annual fee. Plus 0% interest for 3 months on purchases.
Whenever your Amazon Reward Points balance reaches 1,000 points, a £10 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card will be automatically loaded to your linked Amazon.co.uk account within two working days of your next statement.
You will earn Amazon Reward Points at a rate of 0.75 per pound spent at Amazon.co.uk and 0.5 points everywhere else. You will earn points on the full transaction value.

Just compare the Amazon UK card with the Amazon US equivalent, also just introduced.
I think we're being cheated!
Amazon has a new perk for its Prime customers -- a new 5% back rewards card.
In addition to 5% back on all purchases made on Amazon.com, cardholders of the new Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card also get 2% back for spending on gasoline, restaurants and drugstores. Shoppers get 1% back on every other purchase.

Sometimes nothing is better. Just got for other cards that offer longer interest free periods.

Since I have spent far too much on Amazon in the past and probably will do in the future then this is probably a good deal. I was using my Tesco card to get Tesco points but since you do not get so many now and I think they have stopped the double up then this may be better.
They had this credit card before. Loved it, earnt so much out of it that it was a shame when they cancelled it.

Yup, and you earned 2 points for every £1 spent on Amazon, 1 point for every £1 spent elsewhere. It was provided by MBNA which is more reputable and had better rates. MBNA switched me to their standard credit card after the Amazon partnership ended which I wasn't too happy about as it offered no benefit at all.

As soon as the benefits went I swiftly cancelled the card.

Uses up? You know it's not like spending points right? Your score is based on the perceived risk of default. The total credit limits on my cards add up to WELL over £100k and I've never had one declined even when I've applied for 3-4 cards in a single month, not to mention cars mortgages etc.
If you suddenly request huge volumes of credit in a way which suggests you are desperate and may not be able to pay it back then your previous credit applications matter. If you are sensible with a good credit score & proven track record, you'll have no issues generally.

exactly, better use it for amex which gives you 100 ish or switch bank account, or take trial of credit rating and get cashback through tcb.

Got this card recently, £10 received straight away, cashback equivalent of 1% for Amazon purchases and 0.5% for all others, so comparable to Asda card.

You have to spend £1300 to get a £4.50 voucher so not 1%, not even 0.5%

Apologies, rate is 0.75% cashback for Amazon purchases and 0.5% for all others, "Whenever your Amazon Reward Points balance reaches 1,000 points, a £10 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card will be automatically loaded to your linked Amazon.co.uk account", original post is incorrect.

It's a well-known fact that applying for credit has a negative affect on your credit score. If you took the time to research this, or ever looked at your own credit history you would know. http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/questions/askjames338.html

so if my calculations are right, with their reward system, you have to spend between £1333 and £2000 to be rewarded another £10 Amazon voucher?

To be fair he clearly understands this, it really has little effect if you have a good credit rating.

There's no such thing as a credit score!!! It's just a load of **** made up number by experian, Equifax etc to flog you crap you don't need. Credit providers use their own criteria to decide risk.

Correct. Have a rather good understanding of this all. I don't think previous poster trying to scare people out of applying for a CC "oooh no you'll use up your credit score and then nobody will like you" is just ridiculous. Only way to get a decent score IS to use credit appropriately and be know to and trusted by the various institutions.

Of course most know there is no such thing as a credit score
However the internal systems used by financial companies to check credit worthiness will use similar metrics experian and co use to generate your 'credit score' , for example applying for lots of credit over a short time period being a negative factor, so they will offer a good indication of how you might be viewed by a bank

1.5 points for every £1 spent on Amazon. 2 points for anywhere else.
I just applied, they don't even tell you what your limit is on completion or at any part of the application, which I found a little odd.
This Amazon card will tide you over whilst John Lewis isn't processing new CC customers.
