Voted hot, but note that Amazon is selling the Gigabyte Brix BXBT-1900 (with J1900 CPU - about 2x performance of this). Albeit without RAM & SSD for the same price.

That might be more useful for those that require better performance and SATA storage.

Sorry but cold. I may not have a time machine but this thing was being cleared at £60 a year or so ago for good reason.

I'm sure there's better offers out there for around the same price, back then there were a few from China that were better specced but not established enough. I'm curious to know what there is now, especially for £100. Quick search and found this Beelink device for a bit more but has an atom rather than a celeron.

This is a great deal. I'm looking at one of these to add a cheap Windows 10 license on, cable tie it to the back of my TV and use it for Steam in-home streaming and Xbox One home streaming

Way too expensive at £100. When they were selling it for £60 it was just about ok for a piece of hardware that never caught on. Very slowwww. Good for Kodi I guess. I'll dig mine out of storage if anyones desperate. Was going to take the ram back out and bin it.

These are great for media PCs but be warned, I'd be very suprised if this can handle HEVC (.h264 successor that offers the same/better quality at 1/3rd file size)

They need the massively ubiquitous round Thinkpad PSU.

It's been in use for over a decade, used genuine are about £9, and compatibles from a fiver.

I understand it could be a worry in general but it's really not on these.

On the other hand, a HP Elite USDT takes a random big brick PSU that's actually incredibly rare and about £40, which I found out to my dismay. Luckily I only paid £45 in auction for the i5 sandy bridge that's my current media centre, so at £85 a few years ago, it was still a bargain :smile:

Just be aware that those need laptop style 19v PSU - and some sellers sell without them !

Pickup a ThinkCentre tiny instead, full fledged CPU's, much quicker. Not to mention nice metal build quality and almost as tiny.



Look for an M72e, with an i3 and SSD ideally. Quite doable for under £100 now.

Voting cold for any products I have no clue what they are from the title.

I got one of these over a year ago when it was very cheap. On paper the specs do not look amazing, but for a media player, If you run LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64 on this (No Windows) it runs really well. Very high quality playback with no stuttering on iPlayer etc unlike some devices. It may only be a dual core but the on board video chip very capable. Also handy being able to upgrade the ram.

I'm pretty good with hacking. Will probably buy this and crack it open, place a snapdragon into it and install jellybean ice-cream nougat. I could then put steam in it or something.

Was hot at 60 squid when I bought it. Still running today as my failover router. Great device, very reliable but getting linux on there may be a PITA

I bought this when they were selling it for around £60 as others have commented. I upgraded the ram and was going to upgrade the emmc storage to 64gb but its not possible to get at the storage without damaging the case. The unit is functional, extremely small but slow and is not particularly versatile. Mines in a drawer somewhere.

Kodi should work okay. There was a thread on Kodi forums about mod to support 2160p30 on n3050.
Paid less for the equivalent MSI Cubi N at Scan although no built in storage or RAM but supports mSata and Sata.

I got one last time with the intention of putting kodibuntu on. Most linux builds failed when installing, and kodi through windows was really slow (and I mean pretty much unusable). It ended up getting sent back.

That's exactly what I bought mine for. It's more than capable as a pfSense firewall.

If you're going to do use it for pfSense though make sure you use the latest release or you'll suffer from crashes and ACPI issues.

n3050 is a celeron processor :neutral_face:

I got one and stuck 8gb Ram in it and it struggled with sky go and bt sport via the browser with an ethernet connection - sold it on in the end, I also paid £60 for mine

Too expensive for running just Linux, or a media player/server which can be obtained for well under half the price (and would be smaller) also seems to have bios faults

Good if you like the form factor but this is basically a headless Atom tablet - it would be cheaper to get something like a Linx 10 (or equivalent) and plug everything into that. For £100 it's not a lot of spec but will be fine for some.

Can Linux make use of USB 3? I like the idea of a little computer for backing up photos to a portable drive on the go.

I've had a really bad experience with one of these.

May have been an isolated incident so won't insist that they're all bad, just that i wouldn't touch another.

Ebuyer were great though when i had to return it.
