I was offered the deal on the photo when the home screen loaded. Not sure if this is just for customers that are renewing or for anyone. Best deal I've seen since Black Friday.
Edit: when you go to the extend gold part, it should give you a drop down with the options to pay monthly, pay for 3 months and for the year. The year should show the discount.

Where have you seen this on Xbox live? I'm due to run out in less than a month, so I've had all sorts of prompts but ain't seen this one.

I'm thinking your offered a discount on the length of the last subscription that is expiring. My last one was 3 months and I've been offered 40% off the next 3 months.
Would if rather been offered the 33% off the 12 month, but I'll still take the 3 month deal.
