I never really looked into lease only companies. Happy enough with what I have. Not had much issues with Arnold Clark. Went in few days ago with slow puncture thankfully not on side wall and they repaired there and then and washed car All with no charge.

There are many more factors to consider, for example certain cars that are in high demand when first released may be less desirable a couple years down the line. When I used to sell cars I would get the odd car on the forecourt that I could have sold ten times in a day. Yet a couple of years later that same model can sit for months without a single viewer. This is due to popular cars flooding the market to the point where they common and consumers have larger choice. Another factor is special offers and leases saturate the market at the end of the term. Take the Range Rover Evoque, my brother was getting daily phonecalls looking for used ones, now that they are getting to a certain age he is getting half a dozen traded in a week, most of which he's having to offer lower trade in values as due to the quantity coming back most are going to traders rather than his forecourt.

I guess what I'm saying is it's not a static market and customer demand directly affects prices.

Where are you seeing £235?? I'm seeing £167 for DSG 5k miles. Any idea how much excess mileage is? Can't see it anywhere. Filled out the proposal form anyway, if it's 8p or less then you're looking at £400 for another 5k miles, which is still decent...brings the average monthly to £200. Cheaper than my Golf R deal, and that lease ends in 3 weeks :disappointed:

You are correct £167 is the price per month including vat. £235 is the effective price per month over 2 years including the upfront deposit of £2400. I was calculating like for like vs. the op's deal to avoid confusion. Don't forget the ~£200 upfront for admin fees though! Great company to deal with, got my second vw with them now. 6p + VAT excess mileage for me on a 5k/yr deal. Hot deal for the R line also! Heated.

They tend to take the monthly rental payments via Direct Debit, not cash at the front door.

PS: A "fully paid up car" still incurs costs that could lead to a "knock on the door".

If someone has £50k in the bank it would be much better if they borrowed the money from themselves. Pay yourself back over four years and save interest (minus the pathetic bank interest you would get from saving the money).
This could save you £3k in interest over 4 years.

I'm comparing purchasing vrs pcp here rather than lease. Buying this particular car new when it can be in your drive for this price wouldn't be a good idea unless the buyer wanted to keep the car for longer than the deal.

I gave an example. In my case with both discounts and low interest If i was to pay cash I would have been almost identical to what im paying over 4 year plus my final payment. If i paid outright and lost my job or my wife lost hers or someone in my family needed a major tap or surgery or anything thats costs 10s of thousands how would i have paid without that money. I dont keep money in the bank to gain interest i couldnt care less about the couple of quid extra.

If you switch from the mobile site you can check deals for higher mileage as well. It goes up to 15k miles but I need 20k so I've emailed to ask them. I'm interested in this, been looking at an evoque on a 3+47 deal but I'd prefer another 2 year deal really. I'm on the Seat Leon FR deal off here from about 18 months ago.

If you want a new car, 9 times out of 10 leasing is the way to go.

As an analogy: if your house lost 10% of its value every year and you had the option of either buying it on a mortgage after paying a big deposit, or renting it and paying no deposit, with the rental payments being either the same or less than the mortgage payments, what would you choose to do?

I would have thought leasing companies get a fleet discount rate on the car, lease it and then sell when you return and take the depreciation hit. They have to make profit from the cost of leasing and base costs on the RRP.

A new buyer, paying cash finds the best deal via a broke/dealer and can often access a near fleet rate discount, depending on model and time of year and take their depreciation hit.

I have purchased new and kept cars until they are about to "die" (minimum 10 years) an often do not service for years, without issue. (I do have a 21 year old MX3 from new that is SORN and unused for 3 years now. Great working order, they sure knew how to make cars in those days! But fuel consumption is half of its replacement).

Annoyingly most of these lease sites don't state what engine the Diesels actually are, either the 150 or 184. Will have to ring a few companies in the morning.

I'm now leaning to the Petrol R, unless a Diesel 184 R-Line DSG for significantly cheaper reveals itself.

I spoke with central leasing (if you're looking at the 280 R deal), they've sold out of the standard Urano grey (man and DSG) so you have to pay a bit more for white

Same for Yes-lease as well, they only have solid white at the minute and then some metallics.
The white adds £12 a month and the metallics adds about £25 :disappointed:

I'm also seriously looking into this (2.0 TDi 150HP GT or R Line). I've contacted a few companies and I suspect there are no Urano grey ones available, which means you have to pay at least another £11 per month for white or £25 per month for metallic. No longer feels such a bargain...

If it's anything like the service on my last lease, as long as you get the service book stamped from an authorised garage, then it's up to you to decide where and what you pay to get it serviced. I just shopped around for the cheapest. I am not familiar with VW's serving costs, but £20 a month is £240 a year / £480 over the term. I would imagine you can get a service done for cheaper than that. I didn't take the maintenance out on this.

It was the 2.0 TDI R Line 150ps. Standard grey with no extras. I've asked for a price on the DSG but think it will come in quite a bit more so likely to go for the manual.

It's on a 3+23 so it's 3x£280 up front but no admin fees so that saves a good couple of hundred quid.

Yes most of them dont, some companies have it as an extra. I still dont really understand the maintance fee as i know it has to be with a main dealer, but what are the charges? What if they find something wrong with the car? Would you have to pay to fix it or something, because then the cost could be alot more. Itmay sound dumb but i have never had to service a car so im not sure whats involved or what they even look for

I've been looking at the DSG model as I'm sure I read that it came with the paddle shift as standard. I'm sure I read it on the details when I popped into VW but I can't find it anywhere on line. Any ideas?

The wife has ordered one of these after seeing this deal but after yes lease were a bit vague about the excess mileage charge I rang my local VW dealer who actually beat their price by approximately £500 over the term as there are no fees to pay with VW direct.


They came in at £250 a month on a 1+23 deal for a metallic bluemotion r line on 8000 miles a year.

Really good value for a car that lists at almost £29k, I worked it out at costing about 21% of list price over 2 years (and yes I appreciate nobody pays list)

This morning I've secured an Uranu Grey DSG Scirocco from VW direct so there must be some around but maybe none with the lease company.

I've gone for 3+23 at £295 a month based on 20000 miles a year. Seems a decent buy but I've never had an auto before so I'll have to see how I get on with that.

I'm no where near one of their dealerships, they wanted me to call in and discuss it?
Was trying to get a definite quote/stock/colour/fee sort of thing but haven't got anywhere fast?

They sound good on paper but you won't actually get those deals. I called multiple Lookers dealers. Some weren't interested. Others promised individual quotes but none sent one through.

The headline rate was £162 but that was based on the urano grey that doesn't seem available on these offers.
Didn't enquire about any others, they were listing the same variant in the manual and the 150 r-line diseasal, but didn't enquire if they had any?

yeah its a must have now after using it for a year (with android)....wife has an iphone and even she was thinking of switching phones just to use Android Auto. Being able to read and reply to whatsapp messages is just the icing on the cake of everything else it can do.

The apple carplay is in such a sorry state...mostly to do with the fact you can only use apple apps. The experience between the two is just night and day.

It was resent almost instantly, don't know why I didn't receive it the first time round? Anyone else had any such issues with Yes -Lease, wasn't moaning, these things can happen, just wondered if it had happened to anyone else?
Also, when I signed up to the deal, the excess mileage was 7.5p including the vat. On the paperwork I've been emailed today, which is the finance document/details, the excess mileage is now 9p+vat=10.8p per mile.
Not a huge difference but a difference none the less, especially if we get carried away and do far more miles than we intend to?

yes, insurance is pretty much the same: you declare that you are the registered keeper but a lease company is the legal owner. Most insurance sites have these values available as drop down options. May even improve your premium as lease customers can be more protective of the car as they'll face a hefty supplement to the lease company if they hand it back with any damage.

The excess mileage charge I've have signed up to is different to the excess mileage charge on the finance documents that have come to me from VW finance, via Yes-Lease.
I have questioned this difference with Yes-Lease and they have informed me that it's nothing to do with them and I should take it up with VW finance?
I have had no dealings with VW finance since the start of this, as such I think it's up to Yes-Lease to sort it out/rectify it, that's who I have been dealing with/placed the order with.

Email received this morning: Cannot say I'm impressed.....!!!!!

Good news! As your car was ordered before 1st March your vehicle will not be affected by the first vehicle license (VED) increase if it is going to be registered after 1st April.

I can't understand where they are getting those figures from either. Current two year tax cost is £585. The new tax cost is £940. The extra difference is £355. Not £445.

And everyone one new the tax was going up. I fail to see how that's our problem. I've signed an order form at a price which says road tax is included throughout the term.

Mine arrived yesterday, very nice car! (wouldn't want to spend £30k+ on one though, don't mind using VW's money of course :smirk:)

Still not sure what you pay a leasing company for, especially if the deal is or was available through a dealership?
Well, know that now, will try a dealership direct first time next time.
