I'm not knocking it...it's a cheap bike and I voted hot..but the bike geeks normally moan about anything cheap and heavy, just though it odd they hadn't piped up on this one.
Personally I don't think this is a great bike...just a cheap bike with an over inflated RRP to give the impression it's a huge bargain.

yeah, my pedals cost more than this too, and I'd say that makes this a serious bargain. Not gonna beat any club records on it, but great for starting to commute, and if the bug bites, invest later :smile:

These are cheap for what they are, and probably as good as a £200 road bike, but that isn't really saying a lot. If the 14.9kg weight is correct (I can't believe it is that heavy) then that is VERY heavy. I can get the point of cheap hybrid or mountain bikes for short commutes, but can't really see the point of a rubbish road bike, you aren't going to want to go very far on this.
I wouldn't recommend it, amongst other things its got an awful brake lever/shifter combination.
As above, best off with a hybrid/mtb style bike and plenty used on eBay etc.
Bike don't need to cost £££s, but no point in buying into something on a tight low end budget. Go get a decathlon basic but well thought out bike or a carefully chosen used bargain.

15kgs is very heavy and could well be an overstatement; I have a cheap halfords hybrid and that is only 13Kg with 38mm tyres...

That isn't so bad really because it is basic. Bikes with suspension front or back at this notice will be rubbish.
Because I ride and maintain a lot of bikes, I often get people asking me to look at theirs, and stuff like this infuriates me. Usually because components are crap, it's pretty impossible to setup gears and brakes correctly and they will always be just off - even new can be like this.

Maybe for a turbo trainer? As more permanent set up? not much different to buying a spare wheel and saves the hassle of switching over.....

Heat. Cheap and should do the job. Bought the vertigo picadilly to cycle to uni for a similar price in summer 2015 and it's still going. Decided to change the tyres though (had a lot of punctures with the stock ones) and went for a pair of schwable marathon for about £27. For the price I cant complain, it takes me everywhere in Cambridge and hasnt been too troublesome. This seems very similar, if not the same. I would recommend if you need it for a quick commute.

I suspect the 15kg weight is the package weight stamped on the side of the box and not the actual bike weight.
