While looking for a new hoover I found this on vax.co.uk, I think it's about the same price they normally have in their sales.
Comes with 2 year warranty and free delivery.
Seems a good price for a basic bagless vacuum cleaner.

Why is everyone calling Vax a Hoover? It's like calling a Vauxhall a Ford!

I thought you might have changed brand at least before your sixth!

Totally agree, a VAX I bought more than 6+ years ago, is STILL going strong, after allllll these years!.
No idea what the warrantee on that thing was at the time? (and it's gone wayyyyyy beyond the year's of Dyson's 5 year warrantee?), and still no hiccups.
Well, so far, so good ..... :-)
Mine is a VAX Cylinder Hoover mind? (the one that hug's the floor) and not an Upright VAX, as per OP's Deal.
The fact that mine is a Cylinder one, MAY be directly linked into the long life-cycle of mine?, as opposed to the alternative ... (from personal experience of various Branded Upright Hoover's over x-years in the past anyway ... )
But, just shy of £40 for a Branded Hoover for a very decent Make, is veryyyy good in my personal opinion?. :-)

You totally CAN go wrong. Don't buy Vax products! I've honestly lost count of how many hoovers I've had to have replaced now. I think I'm on my seventh in about 4 years!

I have always had Dyson Hoover's but couldn't believe how much better my vax was, I wouldn't go back, having said that I had a vax steamer and had nothing but trouble with that.

Miele are awesome and very well engineered. Dyson are adequate, although it's more hype than quality these days. Vax is largely rubbish aside from the carpet cleaners, although it's hit and miss. I've got a VAX cylinder and it's got asthma, emphysema and bronchitis all at the same time. I can snort up more dust than it manages. I find myself going round with a manual carpet sweeper after hoovering.

Maybe your VAX has a 'virus'?.
It is winter after all?. :stuck_out_tongue:

However, for £40 I'd probably have a punt on this.
