Curses though CPC, once again you insist on giving us products for £5.99 but only give free postage on items over £6.00. So, looking at the components section I carefully chose 10 resistors for 14p which will get me to the free postage nirvana and increase my stock of components that I'll never use. Pip Pip I say.

I have a notebook, only with USB outputs and a projector that only uses HDMI or VGA.
Would this work to use an HDMI into it and then the USB into the notebook and it will project from the screen?

Go to site and download pdf file. It shows a projector/laptop setup. As already said you need to check you have a usb3 connection on you laptop or it almost certainly won't work. All previous USBs versions are much slower.

Backwards compatible only means it will be recognised by the system. It still is very unlikely that usb 2 will be fast enough to cope with HDMI at a decent resolution if at all. It is possible that the lan part will work without issue.

I've used a usb 2.0 to hdmi adapter at 1080p fine which is ok for most people and most projectors.

Not relevant, but I'm going to say it anyway. Usb to hdmi is about £6 for Android regardless which of the 2 (?) formats you use, wonder why it's so much more for pc

I believe its because 'some' Android tablets/phones have video passthrough via the USB port where as the PC adapters are little graphics cards as far as I am aware.

I wouldn't say so as its a separate graphics adapter so the tablet/phone won't have any device driver - it won't know what it is

The Dell XPS range has no ethernet without such an adapter. Dell sell a similar adapter for £94.91. Other slim netbooks/laptops/tablets have the same limitation. I'd agree that most people wouldn't need the ethernet but if they do then this is just the ticket.

Possibly someone who might need 2 HDMI ports or 2 gigabit ethernet ports at the same time? do such people exist? I do not know and the fact this item is being flogged off cheap suggest few people do require such things but it might be useful to a select few.

Its very useful heres your single situation, my tablet and 99% of others don't have a lan port and to buy a usb to Lan is around £6+ unless from the Far East so this little device will give you ethernet for around the price of a dedicated USB to Lan with the added bonus of a HDMI port if you ever need one so a great buy. Ive bought one as you never know when you might need it, what happens if you have a laptop with a broken HDMI port? this little thing will be a god send.

I use this on my Alienware Steam Machine for a second monitor and it works fine... you just cannot game through it, only strictly something you'll use for conventional use.

Hi, my mother's chromebook doesn't have an ethernet port (i think this is the case with most) and her plusnet wireless internet is a disgrace. Would this little device help if using the book connected to the router's ethernet cable, if that makes sense ? Cheers.

Well that is exactly what it's for - adding an ethernet port to computers that don't have an ethernet port but do have a USB port - but Chromebooks run Chrome OS, which isn't on the list of supported operating systems, so the question would be whether you could find a driver for it.

Be careful with this site, I ordered some HDMI cables through them which was fine but then they sent me sales catalogue after sales catalogue after sales catalogue through the post! It must have ended up costing them more in postage to send those than the value of my cables order in the end!

Ordered one of these with some other items. Those items got shipped but this item says backordered. However the product page states no longers stocked.
I have not received an email about the above as I found out from longing into my account.
So is CPC going to be issuing refunds to us or is payment charged when shipped and not at the time of ordering?

To be fair to CPC they do nearly always honour their deals it's just their stock level indicator often does not reflect the correct levels of stock - when there's a deal like this in the past most people get their item(s) but as stock drops right down their system seems to sell stock that maybe someone else has bought at the same time. Imagine 50 people all put this item in their basket, the system will still (presumably) show 50 in stock until you commit and purchase. So, by the time you've spent 10 mins looking at other items or creating an account it's possible the stock has all been bought up. I don't think putting item in the basket reserves it for you.

I disagree. We're in 2017 and technology exists to prevent this type of overselling. Online companies prefer to oversell to ensure sell through before items become obsolete. Poor customer experience.

So what's funny is I ordered the 1p capacitor in order to get free delivery for the Adaptor, and today I received the 1p capacitor by itself in a padded envelope. So had to pay more to individually ship this 1p thing I'm going to throw away, just because they didn't offer free delivery at a slightly lower price band.

Have had issues with CPC deliveries in the past so this was their last chance. They delivered 6 items all smashed, and it took months of calling customer support to get them to finally collect the smashed items and refund me. There was no way I was going to give these guys more than £6 but if they screw this order up then I'll kick up a fuss and never use them again.

There were about 300 or so orders that we needed to cancel and as part of that process everyone should have received an email.
