I posted my last Leaf deal 3 yrs ago, 40,000+ miles later and I've no regrets. Yes, I know the limited range of EVs isn't ideal for everyone, but for people like us who do 30+ miles of school run every day they're a godsend.

Anyway, as the old one's due to go back I looked into replacing like with like, and was astounded by the deals I was offered.

The Acenta, based on 15,000 miles is 170.36 per month on a 3+23 basis, so 4429.36 over term, £42.59 per week. These prices include VAT.

The Tekna on the same terms is £200.45, so £50.11 per week.

If you're happy with a Visia, or expect to do fewer miles you'll pay considerably less. I'm presently torn between the two options above, I'm hankering for the Tekna, but it's still effectively a £ per day for a bit of flash trim and a slightly better stereo.

On the deals I've listed servicing is silly cheap, you should get to 30,000 miles on the first set of tyres too.

14/1/17 EDITED TO ADD:

A lot of people are messaging me and commenting to say "I can't see these prices on What Car's website". I didn't either, I enquired for a 3yr term and my local dealership (Smiths Peterborough) got back to me to tell me the two year terms were actually cheaper. Something to do with residual values. I'm guessing it's easier for them to sell a 2yr old car with warranty left than a 3yr old one, maybe?

Want to know how much I've spent on fuel this last 40 odd thousand miles?

£zero.

Granted, the electricity bills aren't what they were, but it's way cheaper all told. Some people buy a Leaf and end up paying £100 per month just for the batteries. These prices are genuinely great, but each to their own. This deal has zero appeal to anyone who'd pick a Golf R, I know that.

A very satisfied Leaf owner and my night electricity rate is 5p per kW and I average 4.6 miles per kW so just over a penny a mile.
I have done 25000 miles in 21 months and would never go back to an internal combustion engined car, admittedly longer journeys take more time due to recharging (30 minutes to recharge) but this will disappear as batteries get larger in the next couple of years allowing 200 to 300 mile range.

Actually you would be surprised. I had a Golf R7 then swapped it for a i3.

The Golf was quick, but cost a fortune to run. The i3 is nearly as quick 0-60 6.5 and costs £1.59 for 80 miles around £15pm in electric.

I like the i3 better.

Electricity for 100miles is roughly £2-2.50 depending on your electric tariff
Fogg1969
10 Jan 17 1 #11
This is the 30kW model. It depends how you charge it.

I'm not sure what a domestic tarrif is, ~15p per kW? I'd guess you're looking at a fiver tops for 100+ miles. Say £50 max for 1000 miles, vs the Golf R which burns through the best part of £200 every thousand miles.

If you've cheap night rate electricity you'll potentially pay less.

I have the 30kwh battery Leaf.
It's great. When I first had it in May I'd get about 110-120 miles real world driving. More if I drove conservatively.
Now the weather is colder I'm getting 100 miles ish on a full charge. Again I'd get more if I was conscious of my driving and use of heating.

Cost of a charge on an expensive standard British Gas taffiff is about £3.50. Though not not longed moved house so changing provider shortly.
My old place had solar panels so cost me even less. Looking get panels again in this new place asap.

Not necessarily. I'm a petrol head, I sold my Fiesta ST 2 years ago. Leased a Leaf, saved myself about £130 a month in petrol electricity bill went down because I moved to economy 7 electricity at 4 pence per kw and started using delayed start to do washing and dishwasher at night.

Then I used the money from selling the ST to buy another fun car for the weekend :-D

People always seem to mention the Back to the Future time machine when people post about a deal that has gone and passed.

Here we have the exact opposite. A prediction for the future when inevitably oil runs out. Not going to be in anyone who is reading this today's lifetime even if a baby has learnt to read.

I think I may have an answer as to why are roads are massively congested -

"I posted my last Leaf deal 3 yrs ago, 40,000+ miles later and I've no regrets. Yes, I know the limited range of EVs isn't ideal for everyone, but for people like us who do 30+ miles of school run every day they're a godsend."

How many children and how far you choose to live away from a school is entirely your choice. Thanks for clogging the roads up. But on the + your car isn't that polluting and saves you from contributing to the upkeep of the roads via emissions tax. Even though you get a lot of use out of the roads!

"Unbelievable" - slight exaggeration there as it's entirely believable and available unlike the many phantom deals on here

It might be worth asking for a requote over a shorter term. The guy I was talking to said there'd been a big fall recently, something to do with the residual values being reassesed. He said all Leafs contracts have typically dropped by ~£40 per month.

Electric cars cost in the region of 1-2p per mile to run, compared to 9p for my 1.6 diesel. Make sure you do a few calculations based on your annual mileage and see if it's worth it!

E.g at 10,000 miles per year you'd save roughly £700 on fuel costs, which might be quite hard to justify the extra expense of the electric car (and limited range) for most people.
jimbob86
10 Jan 17 3 #26
kWh!!!! it's a unit of energy not power!

Please bare in mind of we all go and buy these the lights will go off and you're not zero emissions, it's zero tail pipe emissions! You're still killing the world by burning gas. You can save cash, but not the environment. This is the short term future, it's not green and it's not sustainable. Synthesised Bio fuels are the long term future.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/zero-emmission-contract-hire-cheaper-than-might-think-8700-3yrs-via-what-car-magazine-1813612

That was £8700 for three years, for a base model at 10k miles pa. So, £2900 per year.

This is for the better specified Acenta, it averages out at £2215 per annum with 50% more allowable miles.

Perhaps it is believable, but I'd anticiapted a higher costing.

My comparison works out at.
Leaf daily commute 50 miles x 1.2p per mile = 60p. x 5 = £3.00
Focus 1.0 ecotec 50 miles x 1 gallon petrol = £5.20 x 5 = £26.00
Also free charging on weekends if you know where to look when out and about but no free fuel for a petrol car so another £5 saved.
Looking at a minimum of £1200 pa saved on fuel alone + cheaper servicing and free parking in certain locations

Folks, don't bother, really. I have the 30KW Leaf Acenta. My daily commute is 36 miles return journey, currently I have to charge it EVERY DAY as I cannot get 72 miles from a full charge. I use country lanes, NOT motorways. I am a very light footed driver and know how these cars should be driven to regen the battery under braking. Only consolation is that it was a 2 year PCP deal @ 8k miles, NO deposit and £125.84 per month all in, so £3K approx over 2 years plus electricity. This deal was posted on here from Canterbury Nissan last February, BATTERY BOUGHT NOT LEASED. I was charging for free with Ecotricity at Corley services, however even this rapid charging is equally as expensive as diesel/petrol now at £6 for 30 mins.
I will be replacing this with an S class Mercedes when it goes back. If anyone wants to take the leaf off my hands at £125.84 per month be my guest.

10 Jan 17 1 #47
I've had a Renault Zoe on lease now for 18 months.

Great car, only drawback was the range, the Nissan Leaf is a much better bet range wise and I wouldn't hesitate to get one of these with the following caveats.

1. good idea to get economy 7 meter fitted.
3. consider Ecotricity for home supplier if you're going to use the motorway charge points frequently. (free)
2. perfect if your daily journey is less than 60 miles.
3. look carefully at local charging points and see if they are value for money (there are only a few free points left)
4. don't expect to race any where, although they are quick up to 40.
muffboy to monkeybrain
10 Jan 17 1 #51
Leaf range is equally as bad!
Ecotricity tariffs are horrendously expensive and you only get 1 free charge per week, considering I am having to charge my 9 month old 30KW leaf EVERY DAY for a 36 mile daily return commute this is of no benefit whatsoever.
Granted in the spring / summer the range was reasonably accurate, it used say 5% more than actual, winter is a completely different story and it uses 40% more than the actual journey.

Drive a leaf which is charged from the solar panels on the roof - 100% sustainable. Never been to a gas station

Perfect city car or second car however this deal looks to be about stock clearance of existing models. The extended range leaf model is about to be released. Nisaan leaf owns the biggest market share of over 0.5m EV's and will like to maintain the leader position with the competition in EV's getting hotter.

I would recommend holding on to the new model with extended range as tempting this offer is, unless current range of approach 60-80 miles per charge works for you.

Voted hot.

I had one of these for a week, I agree the range anxiety and having to charge everyday is annoying.

However, I don't u derstand peolple saying it is not fast. It's very fast from stand still, and fast afterwards. Full torque from 0 rpm, it will be very hard for anyone to pull from a traffic light faster than you

chrisst170 to bike74
10 Jan 17 #62
Yup I agree.

I'd also add another couple of points:
If you don't have off street parking to allow you to charge at home then don't bother as the public charging network isn't 100% reliable.
If you travel long distances frequently then it'll be a pain if you aren't in a 2 car household...however the range is fine for the daily commute and most normal evening / weekend use.

Finally, don't forget the chargemaster points and ev experience scheme; I've borrowed their tesla for a week and have their BMW i8 in a few weeks...its a great perk.

Diesels arent going to be banned, not for a very long time anyway. Diesel tech gets newer and cleaner every year that goes by.

http://www.mazda.com/en/innovation/technology/skyactiv/skyactiv-d/

Give that a read. Makes an interesting theory about vast reductions of NOx and Soot by reducing compression ratios.
Quite an amount of new diesels are coming with an Ad-blue system now to meet Euro-6 criteria.

What isnt popular news (and has been buried under the carpet) is the fact the newer GDI turbo petrol engines release alarming amounts of particulates upto 10x higher than diesels, and because no petrol has to (yet) have a particulate filter installed, these are released straight into the atmosphere.

run the heater whilst driving for 2 hours and 100 miles will be a struggle. definitely won't make 150 to 160 miles if you dont change your driving style. In the USA this model gets a 107 mile range compared to an 80 mile range on the 24. people report that with heating on they can only get 100 mile range when driving no more than 60mph.
It is still a good car, and this may be the best deal yet for the 30 but there were the £99per month deals for the 24 a couple of years ago that were even better value

I'm currently averaging 50 miles a day, day in, day out. (more like 70-80 a day during the week and less at weekends)
Get 40 miles a gallon from my diesel S-Max, seem to think I use about £150-200 in fuel a month depending what other running around I do.
There's only 4 of us normally and five occasionally, would this be something I should be looking at?
Did look at the B series Merc a while ago but didn't do anything about it as it wasn't cost effective where as in principal, this looks a much better option?

For 80 miles a day (particularly if it involves motorway driving) the 30kw one would probably be a safer bet, the battery takes a bit of a hammering at motorway speeds.

I commute 120 miles a day but work are looking at getting a charge point put in so have been looking at a LEAF as a potential next car. In terms of kit the tekna looks great and having a bad back the heated seats are a must. as long as one way I can hit 60 miles on a single charge I would be OK. financially it worked out at nearly a 4k pa saving over my current car ( albeit a large luxury diesel saloon averaging ~ 40mpg on a 70mph mway cruise) based on using my solar panels to charge during summer ( I work shifts) .

I plan on getting a long weekend trial in teh next 6-8 weeks to really test what sort of range they have with heating/lighting/wipers etc all rocking away sat at 70 mph..

S/H low mile cars do appear to be dropping under 10K without Flex so it may be better for me to buy as when you start talking 30k pa lease costs go silly..

£0 ved to pay and decently cheap insurance and max £2 per charge

Did anyone mention that service at the main dealer is only £80-100?

My wife previously was driving BIGGER car and convincing her to leaf was a bit of challenge but money talks and when you think monthly £30ved +£30 insurance + £180 fuel + at least £100 servicing and maintenance... Vs leaf £0ved + £20 insurance + about £20 charging +£10 servicing well..
£340 vs £50 a month... She can spend on other things... Easy maths

I'd say get a dirty powerful car if you enjoy driving. Within the next couple of decades they will all be outlawed & a thing of the past. Have fun driving whilst you still can. Autonomous & clean will be the future & you won't have a choice to drive something fun.

This seems to be the best available Leaf deal at the moment. We've had our leaf for the past 18 months (previous hotukdeals PCP deal) which is up in March.
These must be massive loss leaders for Nissan given the unrealistic residuals.
Our local dealership had a very presentable low-mileage 3 year old (non-Flex) leaf at £7k, which makes me wonder whether buying second hand in this instance will actually be cheaper than a new PCP deal.. Something to consider at least?

I mailed the Arval, the leasing firm whose Visia we've been driving since 2014, querying an option to buy.

They got back to me saying we can have the 3yr old Visia with ~40k miles for £7100.

It's a tricky one, I can get a better spec'd new car, and run it for a couple of years, and it doesn't entail locking any cash up "investing" in ownership, or I can buy outright and see where that gets me.

Instinct is telling me that come 2019 a ~70,000 miles Visia with 5yr old batteries is unlikely to retain that much of that £7100. I reckon switching for a new one is the smart move.

Charging overnight using eco 7 is excellent but here's an idea that would be even more economic.
If your house has solar panels I would think it possible to divert surplus power to the car charger.
(my surplus solar power heats my hot water tank using a clever control called Solar iBoost)

It would have to be a battery bank like the Tesla Powerwall. For people who commute their car will be parked away from the house when the sunlight is productive.

It's good that we have the freedom to choose what 'fuel' power, and each to their own. My experience so far coming up to a year with a Kia Soul EV is:
I didn't lease it because it's cheaper to run (although it costs less for the lease and electricity each month than my old A6 3.2 in petrol alone)
I wanted to try electric car because it felt that it was the right thing to do for me ethically. No tail pipe emissions, I pay for renewables electricity supply. Yes, Ecotricity are charging now, and it's the same, or even a more that petrol/diesel, but the total cost of 'fuel' is still well down.
Getting away from the lights makes me laugh because it's instant. At least 4 guys have crunched their way through gearboxes trying to overtake. (Yes, beyond 30mph they get ahead, but I don't care... Still beat them off the line :-) )
We still have a 15 year old MX5 that does for sunny days and longer trips, but it's only doing about 3-4k a year, so we are managing quite well on mostly electric.
I don't want to go back to petrol / diesel as a primary car. I'd have a Tesla S if I could, but I can't justify the cost.

Like I say, each to their own, but if you have two cars in the family already, then you could probably run an electric as one of them and this is a good deal. (I didn't like the interior of the Leaf, and the driving position of the Soul is better for me.)
Gareth79
11 Jan 17 #93
My commute is 31 miles return, about 75% dual-carriageway (which I usually travel 70mph+). In the summer I get home with 62%, in the winter a little lower but always over 50%. If the route is steady and you drove at 60mph you'd definitely be fine.

One thing to bear in mind is what if the work's charging point was broken - will they have provisions for a speedy repair, and a backup socket, or is there a rapid charger on the way home you could use in an emergency.

I have kept a second car for longer journeys to avoid the hassle of charging, and when moving things around I'd not want to damage the Leaf. I have used it probably on average once a month.

so when I took out my Tekna PCP 2 years ago, I confirmed that Nissan's excess mileage charge is equivalent to the amount they charge you in contract.... I.e. 8000 miles driven on a 5000 miles contract was going to cost me the same as taking an 8000 mile contract... so.... rather than go "safe" with an enlarged annual mileage and pay for miles you don't drive, it makes sense to go for less than you know you will drive and to it up at the end..

Also not sure if it has changed but on PCP Nissan were calculating certain obvious options as having no effect on vehicle RV (I.e. fast charger costs about £1800)... adding them to the vehicle increased monthly payments over two years to exactly cover the full cost of the option, buying was put into the balloon, worth noting if you plan to hand back your PCP

It made sense for me to go for the 15,000 mile allowance. It was ~£20 per month more than 10,000pa.

1. I know I'll use it. The school run pretty much guarantees that.

2. 10,000 additional miles @ 8p per mile = £800. Up front on this deal is half the cost.

The deal we're presently on excess miles were just 3p each. I'll have gone 12,000 over by the time I'm done, but will only owe £360, or £10 per month averaged over term. So in that instance up front made no sense.

It always pays to do your sums.

I've had a 24kWh leaf for 21 months. My commute is 70 miles a day. It's does this fine even in this cold weather. Granted the commute is 99% on the A1 and I can arrive home with 7% left, but it does 70 miles in winter, pretty sure I could get 72 miles out of it taking it very easy.

If I was not getting 70 miles from a 30kWh Leaf I'd be taking it back to the garage to get them to check it over.

I don't understand how having to charge everyday could be annoying either.

I get home , I plug it in. Takes 10 seconds. I wake up, unplug, takes another 10 seconds, get in, full tank. Not having to go to a petrol station, it's a little talked about benefit.

You ought to, you've probably got some duff battery cells, or something.

With the old Visia, it's 20% less capacity, a horribly inefficient heater / air-con, inferior regenerative braking, and we're getting more miles than you. It is dead flat where we live, but you mentioned Corley, and I don't recall seeing too many mountains anywhere near Coventry the last time I passed. I definitely think you've got a dud.
muffboy
11 Jan 17 #119
It has recently had the gear selector replaced as it would not stay in reverse gear, since then the regen braking appears to be non existent, normally you can feel the car braking itself, but not anymore. Maybe this is the reason, however the range was suffering really badly prior to the selector change which I put down to the winter weather.

I was under the impression the batteries for the leaf cost£5000 to replace.
These second hand deals around £7,000 do they include the batteries?

When I was previous looking at the leaf, I was under the impression they do 80 miles or full charge. What happens if they run out of juice, does the AA cover them as cone and tow you?
This year the government are taxing cars on value not just emissions, so although Tesla owners could probably easily afford it, it maybe another factor to consider.

We've got a Nissan leaf acenta and I love it. Owned for 1 yr. We've done - 14000 mile in last year and 70% is home charging. For a full charge fm empty to full at home costs £2.85 / In summer we did 782 miles and it costed £12 / it's fabulous to drive and for someone like me with neck issues because it doesn't have an engine that vibrates it isn't painful for me to be in the car for a few hours and you don't get the same fatigue in long runs. We used to pay £250 a month on petrol plus tax etc. We now pay £201 on a loan which will be clear in 3 years so new car and saving me money.. Win win. Will not got back to ice car now but would love a 30kw just for extra mileage..

One thing I would say is you can go anywhere but you have to plan your journey and allow yourself extra time. Beyond that is fabulous.

Friend has a Tekna and we have the Accenta, and while there heated seats are good and the stereo is amazing, the get less mileage than us so worth considering
sandiford101
12 Jan 17 #130
With Nissan you can choose to buy a car with a battery lease (£100 ish per month but your not responsible for it) or like us you can buy a car with battery included so I own it. The battery is full of cells and is only as the cells die that you will get less miles. As it stands on first gen leafs after 5 years you may have lost a couple of cells but it's been proven that you can drive over 100,000 mile and still not need to replace the battery. And you will never have to replace the whole battery is the individual cells you replace.

You managed 110 miles!? Was that once when you were trying, in the middle of summer with a trailing wind!?
But in reality if you work out the real world mileage on a daily basis and the fact on economy 7 you will only be charging 60% of the car at best (20% to 80%) suddenly the headline future has doubled.

But yes if you can maximise the one charge at home off peak and hit around the magical 50 miles per day mark then they are great. More mileage and the become obstructive and less not economically viable.
If you have to start charging on paid fast charges on a regular basis it soon eats into the advantage.

Just received an email...

Thanks for your enquiry for a new Nissan LEAF through WhatCar leasing.

Since the introduction of our LEAF offers advertised through WhatCar we have witnessed an overwhelming demand far beyond our expectations.

We were able to sustain the offers for a fixed number of vehicles which we have already exceeded within the space of 48 hours. Unfortunately we have had to take the decision to withdraw the offer based on the terms as advertised.

We are now able to offer you a revised deal based on preferential terms for vehicles available for delivery from April 2017.

If you would like us to provide you with a written quotation based on the revised terms, please reply to this email and we will forward your requested quote to you.

May we take this opportunity to thank you for your enquiry and we look forward to hearing from you.

We have a 24kw accenta which is due back in April. Roughly how many more miles would we get from the 30 kw? We average about 80 miles. Do you think 100 motorway miles is doable at about 65mph or no hope!
We have clocked up 12000 miles in two years and love it. Been considering hybrids, but could be tempted.
Also with the rapid chargers now ecotricity have limited it to 30 mins how much juice can you get up to is it still 80% or less as it is a bigger battery?

Called Alisha at NIssan Leicester and it seems that it was a clerical error and so was honoured. She is getting a revised quote to me now.

They have agreed to honor the deal for me. She is out of the office today. Hopefully she will sort you out also.

No, they said that they can't do it for me. The quote that came though is £250+ a month. No good. :disappointed:

Called FP smiths who have also confirmed that it was an error. Todays price for same deal. £5200 over 24 months.

Deals are still about, maybe not as good as the headline, but they are out there. Get on the phone and ring them all. I've gone for 30kwh Leaf, 20k per year for £1k down and £219 a month. And the dealer is taking in my current pcp leaf a few weeks before it ends so I avoid damage, excess miles and 2nd service charges.

Good deal, who was that with? Seeing my local Nissan dealer tomorrow so would like to be able to show him these deals. Presume thats a 2 year not 3?

Head over to speakev.com and drop Miles Roberts a PM with what you are after. That will give you a price to take to your dealer. If he can't get close Miles can arrange nation wide delivery.

Thanks OP. Contacted a local dealer via what car, will see what price they come back with.

These include a home charger fitting then? Anyone know how much an additional charger would be as well? Thinking of moving later in the year but need a new car now.

Local branch just offered Flame Red Tekna £199 down and £226.90pm / 30kw/ 10k pa miles / 24 months. Good deal?

Got a quote back at £7816.11 for a tekna, and it's only 6000 miles (all we need). Guess I've missed out on this one.

Does anyone who leased a LEAF from the Peterborough dealer know if you need (or should consider) GAP insurance on this lease, or whether it's built in on leased cars?

Any advice in this area would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Fogg1969
22 Jan 17 1 #211
There's nothing specific about the Leaf deal or Peterborough re whether you should consider gap insurance or not. It's a consideration with all contract hire deals.

But to answer, no it's not included. Smiths have given me the option to purchase gap insurance at £299. I wasn't planning to accept. I figured the chances of me writing off the vehicle are relatively small, and I doubt any 'gap' will be big enough to ruin me.
panrix
23 Jan 17 1 #212
I've been getting a few quotes together to see what's going on in the world of GAP. I've been quoted £499 by NISSAN for 3 years cover... not very sensible when I am only on a 2 year PCH!!!

So, say £300 for 2 years... slightly more than the £50 - 70 I've been quoted from a couple of other companies!!!! One company, http://www.ala.co.uk state they will match, then beat by 20%, any genuine other like for like quote!!! They might just be getting my business :O)

Loved the drive on the leaf, good spec, Its just the lack of range in the winter, i was lucky to get 90miles, even with careful driving and using the heater sparingly (much to the annoyance of my other half !!) i was hoping for better from the 30kwh version.
Renault have now released the zoe with 40kwh pack, i hope Nissan go the sameway, if they do i might bite the bullet.

28 Jan 17 #214
We love our Leaf (24kwh) and will be handing it back in March.

We would buy another, but pure EVs need at least 200 realistic miles and a better charging infrastructure. Zap MAP gives a good idea on charge points, but be mindful that more and more EVs are registered every day and you will encounter non EVs parking in bays or queues to charge which can cause issues. Also 'working' charge points don't always work!

So we are buying a petrol Audi A3 instead and we'll see what the EV world looks like in 2019.
qwertychris
28 Jan 17 #215
Did 260 miles in my 24kWh Leaf today. Used 4 different motorway services and charged 4 times. Did not see another EV all day. Since ecotricity started to charge to charge, I've never had to wait/queue.

Looking forward to picking up my 30kWh Leaf in a few weeks.
iwomack
29 Jan 17 #216
4 x charges @ £6 = £24 for 260 miles. That's not far off the cost of an efficient diesel and you could have saved 2 hours on your journey not waiting for it to charge (and the $$$ for coffee at Starbucks).
Fogg1969
29 Jan 17 #217
I love the Leaf, but it really isn't a car for long journeys. It's just not practical.

I got to Ikea at Milton Keynes once with about 5% charge left and their charger was out of action. I managed to limp to a nearby BMW dealer and recharge there. Then at Bicester I had to wait whilst engineers serviced their charger, then when I got back to MK I had to wait half an hour an hour behind another car before I could even begin to charge mine. That was a day where pretty much everything that could go wrong did go wrong, but I'd have been home 3 or 4 hrs earlier had I taken the car with a fuel tank. That was enough for me.

A round trip further than 80 miles is something I might entertain once a year, but if it's something you're going to do much more frequently than that I really think you're looking at the wrong car.
qwertychris
29 Jan 17 2 #218
Yes that is one way to look at it. Cost was £18 as one charger was on free vend.
I manually stopped each charge at various points before the 30 minutes.

This was a one off journey, if your doing it everyday then a leaf is not for you. I do 72 miles a day in the Leaf then the occasional long journey as detailed above.

I'd pay more than £6 a charge if i had too, how much do I save every day doing 72 miles? My point is that the charger infastructure is there when you need it for motorway travel. We are a single car family, if I had a petrol car I would have taken that.

Petrol and Diesel was around 136p on the services I think. I did not buy any coffee, everyone is ripped of at the services.

30 Jan 17 #220
How do the charge points I see around work? I assume you pay to use. Do you pay with debit card when unplugging. Is it more expensive than a home charge?
travelsport
30 Jan 17 1 #221
That must be polar..when u become a member u get a key fob to start n stop charging... u pay 9p per kWh used plus vat.. but it's free for the first 6 mnths!

Wish I could find this deal now, I need the 15k and all the other deals around seem to be 6-8k which with an excess rate of 8p really bumps up the total cost of ownership.

Wheres the best leaf deal to be had right now?

As my (ICE) car was confirmed written off today I'm need a 30kWh (Tekna preferred but not essential) and 12-15k miles per year.

If you've not already, try asking on the Speakev forum... If there's a deal to be had you'll more likely find it there.

we currently have the acenta on a 4 day test drive, blown away by it. never had a leaf prior to this.

the acceleration is crazy, its 0-20 and 0-40 is statistically brilliant and it shows when driving it.

can not recommend this car enough
terriclarkfan
3 Mar 17 #229
We collected our new '17 plate 30kwh LEAF Acenta today.

Our deal was a £200 deposit + £238 x 24 for 12,000 miles per year. Got mats and flowers on top, but I think they're a standard sweetener.

The cherry on the cake was that our previous PCP LEAF was 15,000 miles over its mileage limit @ 10p/mile. The Nissan dealer took the car back at no charge to us. A year's mileage for free!

My wife wasn't keen on the cheap flat red colour so she managed to get magnetic red metallic for an extra £175 to seal the deal (so £375 + £238 x 24)

PM me if you're interested in a referral for this offer. I rang a handful of other Nissan dealers and none of them came close. YMMV.

But as energy demand goes up energy capacity will be increased. And ofc everyone isn' going to suddenly buy electric vehicles at once. Lastly eventually we will migrate to almost zero carbon energy supplies so even that point of yours is flawed. What silly logic
