postage is £10.50 for this if you've not got ocuk forum free postage, but still an excellent price when you factor it in anyway

Thanks uberjuba. I'd like at least semi modular as it's going in a M-ITX case, to reduce cable clutter.
Would you recommend anything else up to £75-80 absolute max?

Is this modular/semi-modular or fully cabled?
Is the the best quality PSU deal around the £55 mark? PC part-picker is showing my system needs 300w, but I obviously want to allow headroom for additional drives/upgraded GPU. What size of PSU would be optimal?
I really favour high efficiency and low noise.

this is not modular but you won't find better anywhere for this price

Thanks for the comment but it wasn't so much the wattage that concerned me but the 80+ rating. Do I really need a gold or platinum if my new box is never going to be stressed the way I understand a game player's rig might be? Why wouldn't a bronze be suitable?

you dont get decent psu's smaller than this though.
he would be stupid to pick anything else if he requires less load IMO.

great supply but 450w is a little on the small side if youve got a i7 and a 1070 plus some SSD drives and fans and other stuff it would be a question if this would be enough, i tend to think a 550w branded PSU is the minimum otherwise BSOD.

if your gonna run an x99 board with a 140w enthusiast cpu or sli 1070s+ then yes, but if not and you look at consumer i7's on z270 and single gpu you would'nt break 400w so have some room to add a decent oc too

lol fans and ssd drives use nothing.
also modern gpus use 75w-150w on load apart from the crazy expensive ones. if you had one of them you wouldnt be looking at a £40 psu in the first place.
this is powerful enough to run most modern systems.

Cibarious This PSU would be very good as its very efficient BUT is probably overpowered if you only have a CPU and no seperate GPU. If your "rig" is going to spend most of its time running at very low loads then a smaller PSU would end up being more cost effective. For a soho user anything over 80+silver is easily good enough .

I hope folks don't mind too much if I throw a power supply & general question into this thread but trying to find an answer to the PSU bit has done my head in. :disappointed:
After 6 years I have decided to build myself a new machine and started with the basics. Found a case, memory, ssd with no real problems but the power supply - aaaaagggghhhhhh!! Still looking for a Z270 mobo with lots of USB3 ports/cpu combo though - suggestions appreciated.:sunglasses:
Last time I did a build, I shopped by wattage and that was that. Now, there are uncountable numbers of PSUs and I'm stuck.
Over to you folk with a simple (?) question, how high a spec PSU (white, black, bronze etc) do I need for a simple 450 watt load please - calculated by using several "what size PSU do I need" calculators?
I don't play games and I don't edit video or audio. It's just an office machine really for Office, Internet and dealing with the thousands of digital pictures that I have taken but the machine is on for 15 hours each day.
Anyone care to offer me a bit of help with this please?
Thanks in advance

Can someone explain the difference in qualities? e.g. Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc
I always just buy an 80+ bronze with enough wattage and it seems to work fine and be cheap

It's how energy efficient the psu is

I get free postage so this is a bargain for me . thanks - it's fixed cables, use a case with a hidden psu compartment and some nice extensions = profit.

Really tempting. Could return the Corsair I bought from Scan as there's a loose wire inside that keeps catching on the fan (I've had to invert the PSU as a result) and get this.
Modular? Semi-modular? Or fixed cables?

£10 postage really kills it tho ...25% added to the price. :disappointed:. platinum is very good tho How long would it take to get back the price in electricity saved? assuming 10hours on per day?365
