Actually thats not strictly true as faster shutter will overcome that. Tripod mount it and use a shutter trigger, stabilisation sorted.
Nice price but no image stabilisation. So, telephoto lens without image stabiliser is a no-go nowadays.

Why so? Nowadays we have digital cameras with much higher, usable ISO so can push shutter speeds up to get sharp shots hand held at the long end. Yes IS helps you work with a slower shutter speed or ISO but inevitably they're more expensive. If you work to the rule of thumb of 1/effective focal length you should be able to get decent sharp shots hand held. Note, effective length at the long end for this will be ~450mm on a dx body (300 x 1.5 crop factor) so you'd aim for a 1/500 s shutter.

No, this is for Nikon cameras. You could use it with an adapter but you wouldn't have autofocus or aperture control. Basically, it would be a waste of time. Plus it's a bang average lens anyway. If you want a cheap tele zoom, buy the Olympus 40-150/4-5.6.

Not a great lens but nice for the price.

I bought this lens last month and it's very good for the price. It does lack image stabilisation but so does every other lens in this price range. The savings compared to other lenses easily fund a tripod or if you are a novice like me take lots of shots and pick the best.

Alternative is the Nikon AF-S 55-200 f4-5.6 VR II lens. £146 from Amazon. Shorter telephoto (300mm equivalent though with DX cameras), but it does have image stabilisation (VR), a shorter, retractable barrel (VR II) and it's a Nikon. I bought one and use it a lot.
