Remember you will need USB 3.1 (10Gbps) to get anywhere near the quoted speeds.

Someone has their Watts and Amps muddled up. The drive requires a usb 3.0/3.1 port capable of supplying 10 Watts ie 2A at 5V.

Your numbers are completely wrong, 10A is 50W at 5V.

i use a internal ssd in a caddy with a sata to usb 3.1 cable. the down side is ssd prices has gone up but the versitility in my option is when needed i just have to pop the ssd into the application required.

Damn, its external. I dont see the need for superfast externals (yes its better than slow!), but its loading software thats the balls ache and its really internal that I'd love a 2TB SSD for

Being small, fast and having no moving parts make it perfect for travelling with and backing up camera and action cam media. Raw files from a D810 are around 40MB each so a fast backup drive is a must when taking lots of pics.

The number one reason is that you don't have to worry about the drive getting trashed from being moved and knocked around constantly... that's alot of data on that thing to lose, that is at risk if that a traditional hard disk breaks. After a few years it will likely put the drive out of commission even with a fancy case... (happened to my iomega blackbelt, which has amazing construction)
basically you get this if your data on it is more valuable to you than the drive itself

Less likely to lose data due to shocks, big advantage for sensitve data

Damn. 2 posts in as many hours! You've obviously got a knack for sniffing out deals. The price is great compared with other retailers, I just can't bring myself to pay that amount of money. Heat given though

Handy to know before purchasing "You will need a USB port with at least 5A output to drive this properly, 10A for proper usage. On the MS Surface book, for example, this drive cannot be used as it keeps on disconnecting due to the power usage. So make sure your device support 10A output for best performance."

Can I ask how you are proposing to transfer your 40MB RAW files to this SSD from your cameras memory card? (Are you backing them up on a laptop first?) I use 3 go pros for timelapse, a Canon 6D and sony Cam, so I'm happy to be convinced there is a real need!
Dont get me wrong, I'd love one, so I'm not knocking it. I'm just saying an internal SSD this size is one id love.

bloody hell...this comes up just after I purchased 2tb mx300 to use as a external. I'd never buy mx300 if saw this first. this looks way better than 3rd party enclosure.

Cheap! But I can`t imagine what I`d use this drive for. It isn`t big enough for permanent storage, my sata drives are 4-5 Terrabytes. You could boot off it, but you need less that 100 GBytes for the operating system.

Amazing price!! Ordered... but then cancelled.
Though I have USB 3.1 (ASUS Maximus VIII Hero Motherboard), by the time I need full use of this SSD, most likely a 4tb version of smaller form factor would be available at half the price.
However, voted hot as the price and device are incredible.

Can I take the Ssd out the enclosure and use as a internal hard drive? Or the internal socket is not SATA?
TBH they tend to go for around this price. I purchased one from Amazon a few months back - First one didn't work, second work has worked fine for a few months although now randomly disconnects from the computer which can get frustrating. It's super fast though

Thanks. So the answer is a no - it seems to be two naked board
Internally, the SanDisk Extreme 900 is using what appears to be two 1TB X400 SSDs. To pair these drives together, the ASMedia 1352R has been deployed along with the 1542 switch for reversible connectivity. This puts the drives in a RAID 0 doubling capacity and performance, enough to maximize the throughput of the Gen 2 USB 3.1 interface

Looks like this is still around, though slightly more expensive at £401.22. It says delivery in 1-3 months. Has anyone ordered one of these and got a more specific delivery date yet? I would like to grab one, but waiting 3 months for it seems excessive!
