Are the KS7000 and KS8000 the same? This review implies that they are simply named differently in the EU
There are minor differences. Refresh rate, black levels, speaker output....

Ordered the UE49KS7000 from Curry's online yesterday. £849 and if you enter code 50LSTV at checkout price drops to £799 with free delivery and 5yr warranty. Not as good as OP but worth checking if u work for a relatively large company you may well have an employee benefits site. They usually give a bit of a further discount for most the big retailers via instant vouchers. I got a further 8% off for Curry's, so total cost £735 in the end. Good luck.
So do we think UE55KS7000 going to get more stock or discontinued now? No stock in a month or (anywhere) and now UE55KS8000 going out of stock also (JL). Do we think either will go down in price soon. Or will there be a price without these BR players I don't want or allow me to swap for something else same price (soundbar and better HDMI cable).

The lack of good 4k feeds and poor backlight on all 4k tvs that are'nt OLED put me off such that a OLED non-4k TV is the clear winner right now. In a few years time that might have changed as more and more OLED TVs are released. But of course its down to your preference; buy what you will be happy with. For me crap backlights are a no-no coming from a plasma...

It's completely relative. If you have the correct setup (and bandwidth), it's still worth it - especially at these price points.
I have this exact model, and from 6 feet away I can easily tell the difference between the same content in HD and 4K (for example, the Grand Tour on amazon prime). Watching something in HDR, even on streaming services, there is a big difference.
Yes, if you sit 20 feet away from a 49" TV or watch crappy illegally downloaded rips, then of course it's not worth it. And no, you're obviously not going to get the same quality as a 4K HDR blurray, but the quality is still *better* than the same content in 1080. Saying it's not is ridiculous.

The only way you will see proper 4K with HDR is from 4K bluray. Streamed 4K with or without HDR is relatively low quality due to compression. The difference in quality between Netflix 4K and proper 4K is startling. At present the availability of 4K is very low. Quality of streams are relatively poor. Also one must say that the range of movies available on 4K bluray is also very poor. Prices are appallingly high.
It's hard to buy a HDTV now, therefore all new to are 4K. This does not mean that people are buying a to for 4K. It means they have no other choice,
There isn't any evidence that 4K is catching on. Given the low quality of steams and virtually no 4K Blu-ray Discs available one must doubt any clams of a 4K revolution.
Yes I do have a very good 4K HDR tv. I use it for 4K gaming, bluray( looks stunning at upscaled 4K) and video. I don't watch live tv. And I gave up on Netflix 4K due to appalling quality of streams.
Stick with your current tv as it seems to meet your needs. Don't get fooled by the nonsense about HDR as there no readily available Content out there that actually does it justice.
Bide your time. There is a massive chance that 4K bluray will fail. BBC have no interest in 4K at present. that leaves just the substandard 4K streams.
If there is a 4K revolution out there then it's the quietest revolution in the history of the world.

Does anyone know how the JL price match works? My email from them said I had 28 days to buy it from the date of the e-mail. What if the price of the competitor goes back up within those 28 days? Is the price match subsequently invalid?

Imagine these will drop more in the next month or so as they just announced the Qled q7 models which are supposedly coming in February
I wouldnt bet on it, the 55" normally retails for around £1100.00 and it drops now and again to £899.99 (£849.99 if youre very lucky) as such its not back up to £1100 in most places so the drop is gogin to be around the £900 it is in sales etc.. so i expect the other sizes to follow suit..
you wont ever get this TV for much less, as they will discontinue it than make a loss.

The more expensive models do have more powerful speakers but I think most people would buy a speaker system. I'd pay less for a KS7000 made of cheap plastic with no speakers just an optical out!
There may be an improved anti-reflective coating that allows blacks to look blacker. Not sure unless I read reviews.

Great response. It's funny that the difference between the TV's is a) really difficult to pin down b) when you do pin it down it's minor.
Samsung claim the 8000/9000 over the 7000 has darker blacks, better motion and better sound as well as "360 design"... you know, for all that time you spend looking at the back of it. However for the difference of between 400-450....seems a little steep to moi.

Unless the TV board is 24hz capable it will have *slight* judder when watching movies that you may or may not notice from time to time. Obviously it's more noticeable the closer you sit to your TV and/or the larger the screen is. I had a TV with this feature and it was a small, rarely noticeable difference on vs off despite what some reviewers say.
KS7000 vs KS8000/9000 AFAIK the only real picture difference is a higher refresh rate. I think the effect of motion processing is passable at a low level but often it looks weird. I certainly wouldn't pay extra for it, but I may be in the minority as it's frequently a 'high end' feature. To me it's a marketing department finding a minor feature so people pay extra for the same TV.

the connect box cable is sadly a custom cable and thus stupidly high prices for the 3m version.its a shame that it doen't use display port for the connector and use a separate power cable so that the cable is easily replaceable...

I've had one of these for 2 weeks and I've only seen judder on interlaced content - eg NOW TV on the PS4 was disturbingly juddery unless I put it into Game Mode, then I changed the PS4 to force progressive video output to either 720p or 1080p, rather than 'Auto' while using that app and it was perfectly smooth even in Movie Mode.
As long as you don't have any inputs that will insist on sending interlaced content and can't be forced to be progressive, there are no downsides to this set, it makes everything from SD content to 4K HDR look fantastic (as long as you calibrate away the default settings that seem to be far to bright, blue and pink). It can show fantastic contrast between black bars and bright scenes even when displaying standard dynamic range, very little blooming.
Good luck if they wind up, go bust, etc. Samsung also seem to blame misuse whenever possible e.g. water damage or impact rather than a defect. The retailer wont be the one repairing your item if the retailer doesn't agree to replace. I don't think it is wise to totally ignore poor manufacturer service. This retailer appears good though from Trust Pilot reviews.

I paided twice this for mine 5 months ago. Brilliant TV, but would avoid it if you planned to wall mount it. The Connect One Mini box (or something like that) makes this a real pain. Also HDMI-ARC continually forgets it is selected, meaning the TV reverts to the internal speakers frequently.
If you just want to use it on a stand, the TV is awesome.
