Bear in mind your light fittings are more likely to be bayonet than Edison, so you'll either need to buy some adaptors or change the fittings. You'll want B22 to E27 adaptors, and won't need to pay more than a couple of quid each for them.

You would think that, but what I found was my house was ES with the odd BC thrown in to confuse the hell out of you, this is known in the trade as "pain in the a$$"

Same price as Maplins and Argos if that's easier - oh and John Lewis
been looking for one, its such a good price, but feel it maybe be slightly cheaper soon.

I don't think Argos is free delivery unsure of Maplins and JL
I know JL would likely do a 2 year warranty but don't think Argos and Maplins would unless 2yr is the norm?

you can get the v1 hub with 2 bulbs for £35 ish from Luzern Tech. Mine are getting delivered this week. The v1 hub doesn't support apple/siri but is good with the Amazon echo.

I looked at the V1 but although there is no difference I wonder if I would regret buying the V1 over the V2 just to save £15 in the future - that said I cant find it on their website anyway.

Not a deal. JL is 2 years as well and free collection from waitrose or JL and free standard delivery.
For those who asked about B22, this kit isn't available in B22. If you are looking for a cheap starter, get this kit and buy a couple of the E27 to B22 converters, I got a couple from amazon for £4. They work well and I have since bought other B22 bulbs to go with it.

That's an EU directive, maybe we voted ourselves out of it, who knows. UK law is more complicated.
"You can also ask the retailer to repair or replace your item within six months of purchase. The act provides cover for up to six years in England and Wales, as long as the item has failed through no fault of your own and it was reasonable to expect it to last longer than it has. However, once an item is six months old, you will have to prove the good was faulty when you bought it."

Blurb from Hue skill:
This skill specifically adds support for Philips Hue scenes and rooms. It is only compatible with Philips Hue Bridge V2 (Square shape) and NOT compatible with Philips Hue bridge V1 (circular shape) in order to ensure reliability for this new functionality and to provide the best customer experience. The functionality of on / off / dimming is compatible with both the Philips Hue V1 (Circular shape) and V2 (Square shape) bridges. If you are not using scenes with your Philips Hue bulbs or have a V1 bridge, you do not need to enable this skill. Simply ask Alexa to discover your devices and push the button on the bridge.
I'm not being funny but to control light with an app and have it adjustable for 60 quid?
No thanks, or am I missing something.
Not voted cold as I don't know enough about it.

Well, if you wanted dimmable LED in your house you'd be looking at roughly £8 for a dimmer switch and £8 for a dimmable LED similar to the ones here.
The bulbs are about £15 so about equivalent of buying regular dimmer/dimmable bulbs you're basically paying extra £30 for the Hub to have them connected to your home network. It's not just being able to control them with your phone, but you can set routines (I have my landing light set to Night Light during the night and fade up to bright around the time I go to work, the turn off when it's light outside).
You can also have Geofencing so lights come on when you get home or go off when you leave home.
You can also use IFTTT to do hundreds of things. Like, set a colour bulb to change to a certain colour if it's a certain temperature outside. Or flash a light if you get an email from a specific address, see https://ifttt.com/hue for various others.
With the colour or variable warmth bulbs you can have a really cool white which helps concentration or a better light for reading, or you can make it warm white to relax.
This isn't a particularly good deal imo, I got the 1st Gen from Costco for £32 (the same one at Luzerntech for £37) which if you compare the price of dimmable bulbs/switches then it's not bad.

£60 for a couple bulbs! What can they do
redduck to gogboy
3 Jan 17#43
well it's usually £50 for the hub so the bulbs are only £10 more, £5 each isn't much more than the cost of an equivalent quality bulb. As for what they do, they are dimmable via the app and can be set to go on away from home (making it look like you're at home as a security measure). I also use mine to wake the kids up at a time set on the app. You can also connect it to IFTTT to act as an indicator for when events happen, which is admittedly a little gimmicky. The list of longer but it gets a little spurious beyond that.

No, as the stuff I ordered was in stock.
Looks like lots of people placed orders putting the majority of SKU's out of stock with long lead times for the end of Jan. Looks like all outstanding orders have been cancelled due to a pricing error.
