Are some LTD edition 3DS's not just ones with faceplates?

actual limited edition 3ds xls are not switchable faceplates. see the hyrule edition, or fire emblem.
the smaller new 3ds's are just faceplates on a normal new 3ds

This is a nice one. Plus the game is pre installed which is yours forever.

This is not an xl console, this is a normal size console mate. It's just not good to compare the two together.

Just for reference somewhere had this for £120 over black Friday weekend.
It has been £149.99 on Nintendo store for the last 2 weeks but is now out of stock there.

I don't get why this Special Edition couldn't have the New 3DS in orange to be consistent with the cover plates.

Yeah any special edition new 3ds (regular size) is either a white or black base model with plates that sometimes (rarely) cant be purchased separately. I'm sure someone will list the dragon ball z plates at some point on you know where but yeah special ed plates aren't always available commercially. Play-asia is a good place for a scout.
The new xl has quite a few (mostly import) ltd ed models and some are very jazzy (galaxy LL) Not jazzy enough for moi i'm happy changing plates on a whim. im gonna do it right now, or maybe i wont.

Alza had this on deal a few months ago for £120 and probably sometime in the future too again. I'll bite at that.

Alza is not an approved merchant on HUKD otherwise they have a shed loads of cheap stuff. I've never buy anything from them thou. Their site looks dodgy.

Alza are fine from my experience. There was a lot of talk and controversy on HUKD about them a year and more ago. As deals kept getting pulled, but people wear swearing they were sound. I suspect it is less about Alza being dodgy, and more about them not signing up with HUKD for them to get referral fees. Can only speculate as the HUKD high ranking mods (shareholders) never confirm these things! I bought the Splatoon/MK8 Premium version European Wii U from them Xmas before last, no probs at all. Came with a couple of other games to as a bonus, and saved me at least £50 compared to UK prices at that time.
One thing I will say is I don't like the Euro plugs for gaming. They are great for bathrooms for shaving or whatever, but they don't attach as sturdy as regular UK plugs and are easily pulled out. Not great for charging or in use gaming devices really. And as you have to use an adaptor the already sticky out types of European plug, stick out from the wall even further. Can be aesthetically ugly, or awkward to put furniture, such as TV display stand unit against wall. That of course is nothing to do with Alza, and just an issue I have with Euro plugs for standard house use.
I will be buying a UK bought Switch, only for the plug reason.
To get back on topic, am neutral on this particular 3DS deal. Is a tiny screen, and still a lot of money for it.
