This is nonsense. Thankfully you don't have to take products back to the retailer. If this were true I'd be stuck with a broken Lenovo laptop and Motorola smart watch after I moved to Spain. I just contacted the manufacturer who sorted it for me. It's usually faster to deal direct with the manufacturer unless it's in the the first 28 days.

Phone seems amazing for the price, though some grumbles about the camera? Comments about overheating (?) and mixed reviews with the vendor are putting me off though (like everyone else).
"The 5-megapixel selfie-camera is one of the best available, but the front-facing flash does little to help anything taken more than an arm’s length away.
The camera app, however, is poor. I got much better results from the camera using Google’s free camera app. I found the Motorola camera app consistently failed to focus where I wanted it to in standard tap-to-shoot mode; the drag to focus is clumsy compared to simple tap to focus."
(I use the app Vignette, wonder if that would help?)
I use Paypal commercially and have done every day for 14 years and I've never heard of someone doing what you did - I guess you learn something new every day.

Called them up, used the Sales of Goods Act and said I expected the phone to last well over 8 months, gave them the transaction, got asked some security, and asked if I had tried to contact the seller already

I am not privy to their pricing strategies, but remember, they can sell at foreign prices just like ZTE, or Xiaomi, etc...
PayPal covers you so that, if problems with the company arise, you can go straight thru PP and get a refund, they will produce a returns label and even cover returns up to £15 so its cool
It is the only chinese place I can find with 1 week delivery (without paying mad P&P + customs), nowhere else offers UK warranties, and they say in their Ts&Cs that they deal with customs.
3 phones down, all delivered by DPD tracked within a week, my mate bought a White Mi5 on my recomendation and had the same experience, use PP as the icing on the cake, you'll be fine

Did you pay be credit card? If so, your credit card provider is jointly liable under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.

I wonder how many people here have actually bought from the retailer and aren't just reading trustpilot.
I have bought 3 phones from them, including my current Mi5, all were shipped and delivered within a week, using tracked DPD, no customs to deal with, international versions only, all sealed.
My mum dropped her LE G4 from there, and it broke, of her own accord, and through PayPal I got a full refund 8 months after, despite it only having a 6 month warranty (which is UK eligible, unlike aliexpress) for example
1 thing I would say is of course use PayPal, they're amazing, but for fast, custom free, international version, cheap phones, with UK warranties, this is a great site

also, if you drop this phone and break anything, they won't cover it. Not even the unbreakable screen

Dreadful reviews of eGlobal online. Little or no customer service. They are a "virtual" company so they match you to the product. No shop front no nothing so if anything goes wrong you will have difficulties.

Q: How does your warranty work?
A: As products are being imported from overseas, the Original Warranty may not be applicable with your local dealer but eGlobal Central covers your item with our own 24-month warranty (12-month warranty for mobile, tablets and audio products) just as the original warranty. For more information, please refer to our Warranty Policy.
So NO UK WARRANTY :disappointed:

bought identical phone from john Lewis and after 3 months it developed a problem with the microphone (common problem)
I called customer service who said return to my nearest jl store with it,
I went to my local jl store who was all apologetic and said I have 3 options,
1 was that they would have to order me a replacment from the warehouse as the store don't stock the phone, 2 choose another phone that they had in stock or 3 take a full refund.

I think the issue is the phone is not made in Europe these are grey imports from China so the warranty is invalid when trying to make a warranty claim in Europe. It's the same with good bought over from USA no warranty from the manufacturer only warranty you do get is from the seller if they decide to help you out. A lot of sellers sell grey imports so any issues you will have to go to seller and the manufacturer will not do anything as the items warranty only cover from the country where the item should have been sold.

Had to experience the misfortune of dealing with Motorola late last year when mine broke. Took them 6 weeks to fix the stupid thing, it got caught in a dispute between two repair centres Motorola uses. They even charged me to post it to them and a lot of money phoning their premium rate numbers to chase and it was a clear warranty claim. Great phone, awful manufacturer, Motorola that is!
