This game is awesome. I've seen people rave about the version coming up on PS4, but why not play for free now. There are in app purchase options, but you don't need them.
Daily challenges keep you coming back for the rewards. It gets a little grindy as time goes on, but certainly bareable. Getting new cars is not too grindy, mostly just upgrading.

loved this game as a kid on whatever platform it was, can't remember. hope this is as good.

The Megadrive got the best versions and the most games, four released from 93-96 including ones where you could make your own tracks and the more combat focused military. But the original game made it to almost every popular system during the 90s including handhelds, and the better sequel got ported quite a bit too though not as widely as some of the 8 bit systems like the NES were finished by then....
