I was looking for an inexpensive internet radio for an elderly relative living in an area with poor FM radio reception. It's available on Amazon at £64.99 plus delivery so this is welcome reduction. The speaker is only mono but there is a stereo line out.

Signal?
You sure you're not getting confused with a DAB radio.
This works off wifi or wired internet so does not receive a 'signal' as such.
I'm toying with one of these because DAB round by me is unusable.

You do for wireless (wifi)
I always assumed it had rubbish wireless signal but it claimed it didn't... all I know is the streams were not producing sound way too often it may be a different model but based on the similarities I wouldn't touch it, tablets are so cheap now a tablet and hifi/Bluetooth speaker would be a nicer/more versatile solution

The
Yes tablet hifi/Bluetooth speaker is one solution I use for internet radio at home (it's also built in to my AV Reciever) but this was bought for someone technologically challenged in a poor DAB/FM reception area. This will allow me to program in their preferred internet stations then they can use the remote provided, and a list written by me, to select them.
This deal will not appeal to everyone . But even someone with the skills to use more sophisticated solutions might find the simplicity of this device (once set up) attractive. It gets 12 excellent reviews on amazon in the uk and even more on amazon.de. As a regular user of internet radio I find some stations can be flaky (it's not usually a wifi problem) but most are not and although sound quality (bitrates) varies I find broadly the picture is improving.

a really inexpensive internet radio would be using the computer or phone you already have
but i know how you love to throw away ££ is what your elderly relative will say

Since they don't have and wouldn't (couldn't) use a computer or mobile phone (fixed line only) that doesn't apply. But yes I'm sure they will think I am throwing away my money.

Looks very basic from the photos. Chipset is probably very limited Whether its worth the price will depend on the quality of the exterior, speaker etc.
There's no internet radio that can beat Sqeezebox radio.

How will your elderly relative connect this to the internet Prowling Boy, nice to see they also do a stereo version with dab/fm for a ton.

surely if the elderly relative doesn't have a computer or a mobile phone, they won't have an internet connection? Seems a bit expensive and clunky to me - a cheap tablet (Amazon Fire on offer for 35 quid comes to mind) plus an app or two would be more usable for the technologically challenged who are neverless internet connected?

interesting device, I bought a car stereo from this manufacturer it was extremely well made. But as others have mentioned, it's all about the interface. For me the big plus this house is the remote control. But the bottom line is handheld smart phones are a far better Internet for browsing. Older more basic Samsung phones can be far better media devices paired with the Bluetooth speaker. Not to mention a vast array of things to listen to on a phone platform.
