What the hell is a non UK standard battery? I presume you're referring to 18650 or other standard high capacity cells? I've purchased loads of cheap Chinese brand torches over the last few years, every single one has worked with standard batteries available just about anywhere. 18650, 26650, AA, AAA, C, D, AAAA and more besides, of which I own a selection of chargers that are UK purchased and will charge any of those batteries and a whole load of other ones besides.
It's not unheard of for suppliers to get dodgy stock and I've seen a few stories of 'sold by Amazon' ending up being fakes. OK not any significant volume but it does happen, there are always dodgy people who are more than happy to lower their standards at the expense of others. The plus side is Amazon are pretty committed to customer service so this happens so infrequently that it's not an issue worth worrying over but should always be on the mind of any consumer.
As to 4 fakes for the price of this torch, easily done.
One such example, of course it's not a fake Lenser torch as the permissions of HUKD would prevent me posting such a link but it's easy to find said fakes using a google search if you really must and at the aforementioned pricing.
I happen to own one of these and I use it on a regular basis as my daily workhorse torch at work. I have 3 torches I carry with me at work and this one gets by far and away the most use. Yes it's not got Lenser branding, but the quality is more than reasonable, the price is fantastic and while I'd love to spend a fortune on a super high end torch, the downsides of this one don't for me justify the expense of buying something that's only a small degree better and potentially might get lost while doing my job (and that would just annoy me spending a lot of money on a torch to have it end up lost).
I know I can order 3 more replacements and still have change compared to a more premium name brand like this deal. When I compare to the premium options used by co-workers against my cheap Chinese torch, this one is certainly on par in the most important performance metric of lighting ability.
Additionally, heat added as this is a great price for this torch, but anyone suggesting that a cheaper alternative is any less viable just happens to be another brand snob in my book. Not everyone wants to spend a fortune on torches, some people have jobs that put torches at risk of theft or loss, police officers, security guards, mechanics, electricians and so on all are jobs that torch use is a key part of but not everyone wants to risk having these things on their mind all day long because they worry about losing another torch that will set them back a chunk of cash every time.

With regards to these being fakes, it's very easy to check, just email LED Lenser the serial number on the side of the torch and they usually come back to you within a day. If it's fake, send it back. I bought a fake off ebay years ago and that's how I found out.

Aye, I'm saying more compared to full price. It's why I got it on the deal originally.
And I paid £34 more for the Thrunite but it's totally worth it. Obviously depends on budget etc. But I won't notice the £34. But will notice the torch
At full price you could get a good quality modern 18650 for the same or similar price, and only a bit more for the Thrunite etc.
I never get the convenience argument for AAA/AA
They're environmentally unfriendly. You need to quick swapping them.
If you want to go rechargeable AAA/AA then you need to take them out, charge them, put them back in etc.
Multiple cells are less reliable than a single cell.
I can charge my torch from a power bank, phone charger, etc.
I could even charge it from a portable solar panel, large power bank (e.g. if camping), laptop, even a hand crank!
And you can carry spare, charged 18650 cells with you if you really want. And they'll last much longer.
Can also be used as power banks I believe, and easily charged. E.g. Thrunite do a very compact 18650 charger for their torches that don't have integrated charging.
Then you have the Olight S30R which charges on a magnetic base.
So you can have it there ready to go at all times.
E.g. as a side light. Take it off the stand to let the dog out at night etc.
Use the firefly mode to walk around the house without disturbing others.
Because the beam pattern is even worse than the LED Lenser, has a dark centre.

The TC12 does have an impressive spec but then it is 2.5 times the cost of this deal. I imagine the TC12 looks like junk compared to a £150 torch!
Li-ion batteries are always going to outperform traditional batteries but the convenience of AAA/AA should not be overlooked. Just buy them anywhere and bung them in; no need to worry about chargers/leads, access to a power source or 4-5 hour charging times.

Also quite funny how there's discussion of LED Lenser vs cheap Chinese brands, when there are Chinese brands that cost more and are much better than LED Lenser (actually I guess LED Lenser's rechargeable models cost more, but yeah), such as Thrunite, and I believe OLight are Chinese too. Most are made in Shenzen it seems.
Only tried LED Lenser and have Thrunite so far, but other decent brands are meant to be Olight, Klarus, Nitecore, etc.
Shinoke
31 Jan 17#88
Not voted, but just got to say this torch is crap.
I've got the T7M in a lightning deal for only £3 more, it's basically the same with more functions.
The lens is plastic.
Zoomed out the beam is fine. Zoomed in anywhere in the middle and centre is dark.
With notable artefacts.
Can't take lithium ion batteries apparently, only 1.2v NiMH
Which I believe are much weaker
AAAs do suck, compared to AAs, and especially compared to 18650s etc.
The torch looks good, the box, warranty, presentation etc. is great.
So good as a gift for someone that doesn't know much about torches, or wants to use disposable batteries.
And at this price I guess it's reasonable.
But when I compare it to the Thrunite TC12 which I got - (£60 on Amazon) - which charges directly, outputs 1000 lumens, has a wide range of lumen output modes, two switches, IPX8 waterproofing - and importantly is half the size and twice as powerful, more solid, and can be charged directly from your laptop or phone charger - the LED Lenser just looks like junk.
If you're paying full price it'd be madness, as you can get high quality proper modern 18650 torches for only about £10 more. And if you're willing to go with more budget brands, for the same price or less.
This thing is ridiculously large.
Not really EDC at all.
Thought I'd keep it as a curio, or maybe sell on eBay, but even at £26.99 for the T7M it's not worth it.

From the manual:
"Batteries
Never try to recharge batteries or use new and used batteries together. Always change all old
batteries at the same time and only use high quality batteries that are of the same kind. Do not use
high current batteries or accumulators because of different electrical values. If you do not intend to
use the flashlight for a long period of time, take the batteries out to prevent leaking and damage to
the flashlight. Discharged batteries must be taken out. Used batteries and accumulators are
hazardous waste and must be disposed of according to government regulations."
So no rechargeables - theoretically at least. Has anyone ever actually had any problems using rechargeables in Led Lenser torches not designed for them?

As for brand snob, far from it. as said already most of the Chinese specials use the 18650 and are ok if using around the home, but for anything else, not really. A torch that uses primary cells will win over the 18650 any day. (primary cell as in, walk into virtually any shop and buy pack of batteries and use straight away.)
I own several lenser, as well as olight, fenix, maglite, the united, thorfire, surefire, meco and non branded. I use on daily basis the lenser p7.2 over all the rest.

18650 being around for years now as a standard. Most laptops use them, they've been a key part of the hobby world such as models for a long time too. When you've tried some torches that use them you'll quickly start questioning how you managed with AA, C, D or AAA powered torches.
If you just want a very bright torch, get a cheapy, if you need a very bright torch, get one of these.

I've posted a new link

If you wanted a bulky zoomable torch, which the P7.2 is, you could get this for a similar price:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Flashlight-Water-Resistant-Rechargeable-Pocket-Sized/dp/B01KH2JP5G/
Which is more like the T7M as it has a full set of modes.
More than the T7M actually - actual proper lumen spacing.
But I returned an Aksor which seems pretty much the same:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/AKSOR-10W-Flashlight/dp/B01M9FQMD8/
Because the beam pattern is even worse than the LED Lenser, has a dark centre.
Li-ion batteries are always going to outperform traditional batteries but the convenience of AAA/AA should not be overlooked. Just buy them anywhere and bung them in; no need to worry about chargers/leads, access to a power source or 4-5 hour charging times.
Only tried LED Lenser and have Thrunite so far, but other decent brands are meant to be Olight, Klarus, Nitecore, etc.
Standard LED Lenser warranty is 5 years, but increases to 7 years if you register online.
I have a number of £2 CREE pocket torches (useful for the bag, car, bedside) which suit most of my needs, but who can resist a new toy?
Are you needing some additional divine light?
I think that means dont try to recharge the batteries it came with. They are Duracell non rechargeable. there shouldn't be any issue with getting decent rechargeable and a charger to use with it.
Ahh HUKD, you lure me in then steal my pennies! :smirk:
They're not cheap now, but they will be again.
as for getting 4 fake lenser, nope. They currently fetch about £16 to £20 on eBay. so no one will be getting 4 fakes for the cost of £24.
I have an Ultrafire at the moment, but having to take the battery out and use a battery charger is annoying.....wanna just be able to use my phone charger.
Said nobody, ever.
If you just want a very bright torch, get a cheapy, if you need a very bright torch, get one of these.
Personally I'd recommend the Fenix range over LED Lenser, but each to his own.
The cheapos fail pretty quickly - usually it's the switch mechanism that packs up - and they always feel cheap. These don't. It's like the difference between a bog standard toaster and a Dualit. Unless you've tried both, you'll never understand.
At this price this torch is an absolute steal, it will last for years

& at this price it is indeed a bargain.
Keep to your cheap Chinese... You do not know what you are missing. My cheap chinese are god knows where in the house & havent been used for 2 years plus. My Lenser P7 is on a kitchen shelf so I know where it is at all times & is used 4 months of the year easily for the last 5 to 6 years I have had it.
Excellent price... Very Hot
Might have to buy one for my partner as she keeps nicking my P7!!
