A great little coffee machine with 12 free pods and now EVEN cheaper. I have AEG version, which I posted up a few months back, but this version is great too. It's a shame the store have run out of the pods but they're available on offer all over the place. By far the best coffee from a pod in my opinion. Not sure if the further reduction is nationwide but they had plenty in store.

I don't think I'd have a pod coffee machine if they were given away. In fact, I did turn one down which was an unwanted Christmas present a year ago. They are only cheap because they force you to use the overpriced pods which probably cost up to five times as much per cup and leave you with a combination of non-recycleable and non-biodegradable waste in one inconvenient package.
A typical pod contains 5g of coffee and costs (at Tesco special offer price) 20p each - buying ground coffee at £1.50 for a 200g bag (I pay less) means that 5g of coffee costs just under 4p. Just one cup a day will cost about £60 per year more than a loose coffee machine; which, co-incidentally, is how much I paid for an espresso/latte machine in a sale four years ago which is still going strong and my coffee grounds help fertilise a friend's allotment.
How are these things anything but a rip-off?

but still a deal for the machine....and if you're too not lazy you could cut the foil off the pods and recycle the grounds on your mates allotment and put the plastic pod in your recycle bin :-P

I do get what you're saying, but these are convenient. I have Aldi's Nespresso machine and would, at the weekend or so, open up the used compatible pods (I get online cheap) and rinse and recycle them (my council take yoghurt pot plastic etc and they were the same grade). I know that could be viewed as defeating the whole convenience argument, but I don't usually have the time when I'm making the coffee (nor to grind own etc.), such as morning, when working etc.
However, Percol now do a completely compostable pod and I am happy with the taste, get them on Amazon subscribe and save, so win-win.

great price for a decent brew. I personally buy beans and grind my own which makes a better coffee but does require a lot more effort. I certainly wouldn't buy pre ground from the supermarket for a 6p per cup equivalent. That's just not worth the effort imo but I'd certainly have one of these little machines for work when I can't get to my own setup!

There's always someone who's got to comment on the philosophy behind an item. Heat for the fact that the price of the item in its entirety is good. I agree the coffee is good.

My point was one of economics; at least 80% the cost of each cup of coffee is plastic.
It would be remiss of me as a member of a site whose philosophy is supposedly saving money not to point that out.
As for convenient, it takes me less than 2 minutes to make a cup of double latte coffee; it takes twenty seconds to empty and rinse an espresso filter. These things are a triumph of marketing over common sense to the point that people can construct arguments in favour of them whilst throwing their money away.
Yes, you can buy reusable pods, I looked into this for somebody and a) they are not cheap, b) they are not easy to get for different machine models and d) they are even less convenient than using an espresso filter.
As for the statement that people who do not like a 'deal' should not post, what is this, some fascist echo chamber?

Whilst I agree with the 'saving money', it is convenient. My point is someone has taken the time and effort to take a photo and post it, to help... much to say I'm sure many people thought it a good deal and bought one. I just thought it unnecessary to pick it apart.

great machine!! I have this exact model & it's sparkly blue with chrome... I just microwave the milk add an expresso & hey presto a really good latte...
